Its alright to criminalise mob action or what we know as jungle justice....however,have we asked or investigated about genesis of mob action or what led to it in Nigeria?
One of the apparent reason is due to the complete breakdown of trust for the security operatives by the citizens!
The inaction of the security operatives to properly do their jobs effectively has led to citizens seeking self help just to protect them selves!

If you catch an armed robber or a cultist or kidnapper and as a law abiding citizen, you hand them to the police,in 24 hours that criminal will be released by 'powers from above' and they will start looking for those who handed them over to the police!
Most times,it gets fatal!

Hence,as there is a bill to criminalise jungle justice, there must always be a bill to ensure that policing becomes state and local based which we all refer to as state and LGA policing!
This will ensure that policing is decentralized and states/LGAs will be in control of their own security!

Igbos always putting laws that will backfire them later.
From zik written off peaceful seperation..
To ironsi made a degree for death sentence whoever try to split...
To Nwabueze drafting constitution to kick against referendum.
To ironsi again turning federation to unitary system..
Now, to this one drafting a constitution to penalized protesting....and this will only affect his own igbo people in nearest future just as what the pasts ones did that is affecting them today.

maybe igbo policians need proper education.

They can’t criminalize protests. It is your fundamental human right. These politicians are jokers and they must all perish.

Mob actions and riots can be criminalized, but not protests or unlawful assembly as they called it.
they didnt criminalise protests

The main issue with many Nigerians is that they tend to read or listen only for the purpose of responding. It is important to understand the distinction between lawful assembly, which encompasses peaceful protests, and unlawful assembly, which refers to riots and the disruption of public order. The speaker is specifically referring to the latter, which can cause significant harm to a community. While protesting is a fundamental right for Nigerians, it must be done in a manner that is in accordance with the law to be considered lawful.
does nigeria have a proper law?

Which protest can one make in nigeria that will be accordance with nigeria politicians?
If you only make a protest that nigeria criminal politicians want, then know you are only wasting your time protesting..

I would like to call the attention of the Obidients who are in the habit of castigating IPOB and making fun of our sit-at-home orders and remind you that the New Nigeria you are seeking has gotten Newer. In case you are NOT aware, your New Nigeria has just banned you from protesting should your so-called stolen mandate is NOT returned. I know most of you had been planning how you would hit the streets in protest should the election tribunal fails to nullify Tiefnubu's selection victory as was surreptitiously declared by INEC. I do NOT see how you would accomplish your planned protests with the passage of this bill criminalizing protests without getting shot down in the streets like dogs by the Nigerian military and the police. I guess you guys might employ like the IPOB the sit-at-home tactics that you so derided and mocked. To all of you Obidients, I say, Welcome to your "One New Nigeria."

Agreed - the temptation to resort to lynching would be nowhere as strong if the country had effective, accountable local policing. Any bill of this sort can only be an ineffective attempt to treat the symptom rather than the disease, as it will do nothing to change the failed policing at the root of the problem.

The difference between PDP and APC is now very clear to everyone unfortunate to find themselves within the iron cage called 'Nigeria'
The mistake was already made since 2015, now it's too late to stop APC and the gloomy days it has brought in its wake. Nigerians are in for it.
I can only hopelessly hope that we won't see another episode of shameless 'converted wailers' when things turn contrary to their expectations just like former 'Sai Baba' crooners later mocked their supposed messiah. shocked shocked

*CHINEDU, GBAJABIAMILA, OTHERS BAG PRESS CORPS AWARDS*

*SPEAKER CLEARS AIR ON CONTROVERSIAL BILL AGAINST JUNGLE JUSTICE*

Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as other prominent Lawmakers, received House of Representatives Press Corps Award, yesterday.

The Award of excellence, which was held at Executive Hall, International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja, was the 2nd edition of the House of Representatives Press Corps Dinner/Award.

The award ceremony also presented an opportunity for the Speaker of the House of Representatives to throw more light on the Bill seeking to guard against Killing of innocent Nigerians through Jungle justice.

An elated Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu bagged Award for Excellence for Constituency development, while the Special Guest of Honour, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, also received an award for Excellence.

Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu's Award according to the Press Corps, is in recognition of his outstanding performance as a Legislator in the last two years, especially in Constituency Projects and activities. The Corps' also acknowledged his contributions on the floor and his deep knowledge of Legislative business and contribution to debates.

Other recipients of the Awards are: the Leader of the house, Hon. Alhassan Doguwu; the Chief Whip, Hon. Mohammad Mongono; Deputy Chief Whip, Hon.Nkiruka Onyejeocha; the House Minority leader, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and a few others.

The Special Guest of Honor, Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila, who spoke extensively about the Jungle justice Bill, used the opportunity to condemn in strong terms, a section of the Media whose stock in trade is to mischievously twist well intended Legislative works for pecuniary benefits.

Narrating what he termed mischief, he posited that: "sometime, some people, might even be a minority of the journalists will twist the truth for a particular end. Sometimes for political end, sometimes for economic end and sometimes for whatever reason that doesn't help anybody and doesn't help the Country.

"The other day, somebody reported from Vanguard, and said a member, and it made the rounds, all over, that a member of the house and the house have passed a Bill to criminalise protest, and to jail protesters for protesting.

''And there was no such thing in the House. Nothing like that! And the gentleman had to come up to the floor of the House a day or two later under personal explanation because he was bombarded by his constituency, that there is no such thing.

''Now, is it mischievous reporting or genuine mistake'', he asked.

'' And if it were genuine mistake, I had expected that for something so serious, the newspaper responsible would have come out the next day, rather than the member himself, even if it's a tiny print and corrected itself, that sorry for this misinformation, this did not happen, we regret our error. End of Story. I haven't seen that, and it's been a week now". He however advised that: "we must be honest, so that we can get better".

It will be recalled that a well-intended Bill Sponsored by Rep. Emeka Martins Chinedu, in order to guard against Killing of innocent Nigerians through Jungle justice, was twisted by the Media on the imprimatur of mischievous elements to appear like he was against lawful Protests and Assembly in Nigeria.
