Here Peter Obi demonstrates what so many having been saying from the start of his presidential bid: more than anything else, his rabidly intolerant supporters were the ones who cost him any chance of victory, by alienating everyone who wasn't in perfect alignment with every single one of their opinions. Just compare and contrast the vicious insults and personal attacks they unleashed upon Soyinka's head with this statement by Obi in which he forthrightly acknowledges what all his ignorant and bilious supporters couldn't: that Wole Soyinka paid an unimaginably high personal cost for the Igbos during the civil war, and has more than earned his right to speak out on public affairs without fear of frothing mobs calling him every foul name in the book.
This is an exaggeration of a truth, detaching it from its true cause and effect, and reattaching it to suit your narrative about the election. There was massive rigging and a dwindling voting base generally. That's what cost LP. Nigerians are honestly tired of both APC and PDP. LP isn't far from both but frustration drove us towards LP. Everyone knows how Igbos are and what we were risking by allowing an Igbo man run on the most viable option asides the hitherto, two main parties.

The man who single handedly killed money politics in Nigeria, he gave Nigerians hope, he made us realise that it's Possible.

If Nigeria miss Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed, it won't recover in the the next 20 years.

Rest in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Whatever happened to Soyinka, he invited it upon himself.

Prior to his ignominious adventure into trying to rationalize the sham election organized by INEC, every Nigerian, including Obidients, held Soyinka in high esteem.

But like an Igbo proverb says, if an elder refuses to respect himself, children will play with his testicles.

Soyinka refused to respect himself when he tried to give his imprimatur to an election that the entire world condemned. He deserved every disrespect he got and Iā€™m happy he was bullied back into silence where he was.

Bullied back to silence, yet your Obi is seeking him, you need sense

Any political group that wants to drive change of political order in a democracy MUST tolerate contrary opinions, voices of dissent and acts of opposition.

The current Nigeria democracy is no doubt benefiting from highly active and youthfully vociferous opposition that Obi-dients provide. However, their lack of tolerance to slight deviation of opinions is TOXIC and DANGEROUS.

This negative attitude will always be RESISTED by every true intellectual. The reason is very simple: intellectualism and flow/exchange of ideas flourish when every shade of opinion is heard. Intellectual abhor herd mentality.

So when intellectuals like Prof Soyinka, Prof. Soludo and others like them stoutly detest and vehemently counter Obi-dients and their lack of tolerance, you will appreciate where they are coming from.

Change of tactics needed and I am happy Peter Obi himself is leading the way.

Soyinka no be small pikin... he has seen the insults and even he told obi that his supporters will make him loose the election.

In fact when we look at the fact that Peter Obi did not PUBLICLY call out his supporters who insulted Wole Soyinka

Then forget... this is how month later?

You tribal people are the reason Nigeria will never grow.

Here was Soyinka wanting GEJ to go..

Where was he when this APC government did worse than GEJ government?

Nigeria is an unusual country with many absurdities...because largely it has army of disgruntled and disillusioned ethnic bigots who see everything through the prism of ethnicity...and nothing else.

He needs to start doing this bridge building with the North sooner rather than later.

I can see that regarding (a good chunk of) the Obidients, he is in a bind, he needs their rabid support as his base but he also knows fully well that their toxicity will cost him and that they won't take much to turn against him.

We as a country are all fed up of both PDP and APC and he is in prime position to benefit from it if he plays his cards right.

With more visits like this, and I am sure he will be using the opportunity to apologise on behalf of "the usual suspects" when he does, he might win in 2027.

This is one of the many things I so hate and dislike about this dangerous and slimy snake, he sits and looks the other way while his vile, disgusting and toxic mob insult, abuse, denigrate, ridicule and trash other people, they dragged and trashed Prof Wole Soyinka for almost 2 weeks, but this 2 face slimy clown was enjoying it and refused to order his toxic mob to desist, now he's prostrating and playing nice as if he was under some cave in Afghanistan when his mob was attacking the Professor.

It's always the same crooked and deceptive game all the time, Nigeria is so lucky that God rejected this evil and bigoted clown.

He is exactly what you called him. A snake. He has never berated his Obidient zombies in public. He has never spoken against the activities of Ipob killing his kinsmen and disrupting economic activities on the most important day of the week before or after the elections but he keeps talking about national issues online and congratulating Nigerians left and right. A real snake.
