I could remember vividly this a room self con I rented here in Ibadan after my service. After the agent took me round the building and the surrounding, I fell in love with the place cos of the house structure; very neat and modest.

The caretaker then took me to the landlady after the house inspection for discussion. I met the woman (she should be around 65 or so and I learnt her husband is late.) She asked me the necessary questions and told me what she want me to follow as a tenant in her house.

She told me she has 3 daughters (two twins) both are ladies are at The Polytechnic Ibadan schooling but do come every Friday to spend the weekend. While the other one their last born just finished secondary school awaiting admission (though I saw that one sitting close to her, blending pepper with the manual blender, she should be around 16-18 years of age).

Wetin burst my brain the old mama said since I’m not married yet, I must no talk or laugh with any of her 3 daughters for any reason. That even if they should greet me I should not respond.

I was amused and wanted to laugh but I controlled myself. She also added on no condition must I put on short, boxer in her compound or go shirtless. All that should be in my room.

I was so surprised when I got outside, myself and the agent burst into laughter. That will be the first time hearing these weird rules from a landlady cos of her daughters.

I like that kind compound o…even the landlady is not to be trusted. Her own Dey her body too.


Anyway I once met a prospective landlord… said he locks his gate by 5pm. So I have to be home before then.


Like WTF! Many others but I tire to type long story!

Landlord telling me not to use any electrical appliances except my Tv set because of nepa bill, he went further to tell me people don't use generator also in his house I kuku japa

Yes I did. I only spent a year there. Those 12 months I hardly stay at home much, cos I was scouting for jobs. So I do travel to Lagos often to stay with my brother when I have interviews to attend
