Valid point then. If it's a stepping stone for you, then it's understandable. But make sure you have a plan to get out as soon as you can. Plan to stay in Valletta, the capital city. Or Msida, where their University is located.

Yes o I'm out asap

Cyprus and Malta. Yes. If you go there in Summer it's continous fun all summer. But outside the summer months, it's a basket case. I mean, it's a developed country with many infrastructure in place compared to Nigeria. But Ọmọ, it's not as rosy as it looks. Last year, three very young police officers were getting kicks from driving around, arresting Indians and Africans (who work in the really bottom jobs), taking them to unknown destinations, torturing shege from them and collect "small thing" from them or their family back home before they releas them.

Maltese drivers drive anyhow. Okay not compared to the madness in Lagos. But completely mad for a European country. Government corruption? Full ground. Dem dey run government contract racket like Naija. As in same level. It's an archipelago made up of three islands - Malta (the biggest), Gozo and Commino. It's a nice picturesque holiday destination. But ọmọ, it's damned expensive for its size, location and opportunities it offers.

PS: Cyprus here refers to the southern part of the island also called the Republic of Cyprus (RoC) which is an EU member. The north, called the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) which is were a lot of Nigerians go to "study" is an outright basket case

I just checked reddit and even natives maltives wanna leave. Northern Cyprus don cast na. Only idiots go there to study nowadays. The degrees can't be used anywhere else aside turkey.

Maybe I'm over exaggerating some of the bad points. But Malta no good like that. Yes they have all the basic infrastructure like any western country. But it has got its really not-so-nice side. Especially the discrimination against black Africans. Their local language (Maltese) is closely related to the Tunisia Arabic dialect so a lot of Tunisians are comfortable there.

Rent alone for apartments smaller than the average London size is expensive. Everywhere on the island dem dey build new building. Constant construction noise.

That's if your case manage to get approved. I know they used to give Nigerian footballers citizenship to boost their national squad. Now na Brazilians dem prefer for that.

So far you get your get-out-plan. Malta nobi where person dey go hook. Locals are very racist and things are very expensive there because it's an island. I love Malta, don't get me wrong, but as a tourist destination. Not as a place of permanent abode. The only black people they "respect" are African Americans. Any other black person is looked down on as a refugee. Even those from the Caribbean

Insightful contributions about Malta.

I am not surprised about the bold tho. In Economics I trust. It never fails. Humans are the same everywhere.. Tomorrow, someone will say Nigerian men are hot cakes in the abroad esp Europe. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
