The update on the Zungeru project was given by the Minister of Power, Abubakar D. Aliyu, on Saturday 13 May 2023 while on an inspection visit to the dam.

This is now the second-largest hydroelectric power station in Nigeria, surpassed only by the 760 megawatts Kainji Hydroelectric power station which is also located in Niger State.

Coming onstream of the Zungeru HPP also means Niger State now has 4 Hydroelectric power stations:

Kainji (1968): 760MW
Jebba (1983): 578 MW
Shiroro (1999): 600 MW
Zungeru (2023): 700 MW

Buhari did not borrow any new loan. That particular loan was captured under MTEF approved by NASS. What he did is to write to them after World Bank had applied and ready for disbursement. Buhari will not be in power when that disbursement would be done. The world bank led the exercise to capture beneficiaries. If you don’t understand an issue, ask questions.

This is great. One can confidently say that President Muhammadu Buhari surpassed all previous PDP governments combined in projects delivery. President-elect Bola Tinubu will deliver the Mambila hydo power station in Taraba state during his own tenure.
