National Population Commission has successfully demarcated the entire country into 598,988 Enumeration Areas (EAs) using Geographic Information System (GIS) methodology in preparation for the conduct of the first digital Population and Housing Census in Nigeria.

Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) which is the process of delineating the entire land area of the country into small (mutually exclusive) geographical and demographic units called Enumeration Area (EA) that an Enumerator can cover during a census exercise.

Planning for the census is anchored on the EAD as the basis for estimating both the human and material resources required for the exercise.

The Commission as of today is the repository of Nigeria and Africa most accurate, reliable and largest geospatial database.

Nigeria still does census in the 21st century because we do not have system to see how many we are in the country. Billions will be spent for a census that will cost more money because there is no system to register every one at birth like the western countries. We like to make easy things hard. What a shame.
