North Central.
Lafia is terrible for a capital city.
Minna is not that good too.
Forget lokoja the aura and atmosphere alone oozes of nonsense.

North west
Gusau the name suggest its gutter.
Sokoto that one is just there.

North East
Except for maiduguri and gombe the rest are rubbish.

South South
Yenagoa is over rated.
Benin too many old buildings.

South East.
Umuahia is rubbish.
Abakaliki is picking up compared to the last time I was there.
Awka could still do better.
Owerri is not that bad.

I have been to all the states in Nigeria so I am talking from experience.

I have been reasoning, having traveled to most state capitals in Nigeria and seening how underdevelop most capital cities are, it is pertinent to state the list of the most underveloped capital cities in Nigeria by geo-political zone:

(1) south east - Umuahia (Abia state).

(2) South south - Yenogoa (Bayelsa state).

(3) South west - Ado ekiti (Ekiti state).

(4) North central - Lokoja (Kogi state).

(5) North east - Damaturu (Yobe state).

(6) North west - Gusau (Zamfara state).

What is your opinion on this rating? Please no insult guys.

Only a fool will ever take u guy serious. I could see that u compiled the list from upper iweka bridge when coming from owerri. No city in south east can match Ibadan, Abeokuta not to talk of Ikeja. Have u been to ikeja before. I can see u are just confused and myopic.

No state or city in Nigeria is better than Abia State. Forget about all these thrash they said about Umuahia.
No state in the whole yorubaland is better than Abia State. Lagos state is a shit hole compared to Abia State.
Nigeria is jealous of Abia State because Abia State will be the capital of Biafra just as Abuja is the capital of Nigeria.

For the ones I have visited, Lokoja is the least developed... Even some second cities of some state (Nsukka-Enugu, Zaria-Kaduna, Azare-Bauchi) looks better 😏

All Nigeria states are underdeveloped. Just random buildings springing up stupidly at every available space and corner.
The entire 36 with Abuja included.

The best state capitals I have visited in Nigeria is ibadan, calabar, ilorin but ikeja is worse and the whole of Lagos state. Even Allen is nothing except the millions of naira running and businesses there. You know Nigeria we like to praise false development and high spendings alot yet there's no proper development
Re: Most Underdeveloped State Capitals In Nigeria by Iriruaga100(m): 6:08pm On May 19, 2023
I don’t understand what Owerri is doing there?
What are the indices used to measure how developed a place is? What you all should be looking out is town planning, infrastructure and industries.

Owerri is not bad but the present governor is not doing enough in the state, Awka for me is still very small with one major road and additional duacarriage roads. Umuahia too many bad roads. Minna is big for nothing.

Name a few of the bad roads in Umuahia.

Bhuhahahahaha! Owerri more developed than Ikeja, Port Harcourt etc. What a joke.

What infrastructures are in Owerri? Does it have transportation system like airport, BRT, train etc?

How many five star hotels, restaurants, secondary schools exit in Owerri?

How many Industries, factories, multinationals etc are in Owerri?

How many world class health care centers, hospitals etc are in Owerri?

How many highbrow areas, estates etc are in Owerri? grin

How many malls, supermarkets, grocery stores etc are in Owerri?

How many recreational centers, stadiums, golf courses, polo clubs, cinemas etc are in Owerri? grin

Ikeja comprises of Allen, Opebi, Omole, Ojodu, Maryland, GRA, Anthony, Onigbongbo, Alausa, Magodo, Ogba, Agidingbi, Oregun etc.

What about Owerri? grin

The most developed state capital in terms of infrastructures are listed in this order.

1. Ikeja
2. Port Harcourt
3. Ibadan
4. Kano
5. Kaduna
6. Enugu
7. Abeokuta
8. Jos
9. Uyo
10. Ilorin
11. Owerri
Kano, Kaduna, Uyo, Jos, ranks ahead of Ibadan.

Can't you see how your mindset is.
You mentioned other geography place apart from south west, that shows you are from there.
And the last time, I checked South East is very developed infact Ebonyi State seems to be currently better than Enugu State
