He delved into Energy (refinery) in 2014 and in 7 years, he completed the largest refinery train in ALL of Africa including Morocco, this refinery will supply fuel to ALL of west africa including Senegal.

Nigeria has been known for epileptic power supply, power generation is not much, neither is the distribution capable of the required infrastructure.

Should Dangote delve into Power? We have the resources in the two River Niger and Benue, alongside vast land in the Windy North East and North West for power generation.

Can Dangote venture into power sector and supply consistent power to Nigerians in like 10 years ?

He said he is going into steel production. Now that Buhari has decentralized electricity sector, states and private businesses will go into it

He should delve into electricity that will power the whole of Nigeria. The refinery can only power Lagos state.

When you talk about electricity in Nigeria, you need to understand the sections it's divided into - generation, transmission and distribution. If a company wants to singlehandedly handle all these three, it will require a lot of money, and probably legal tussle.

Furthermore, remember that the FG has outsourced distribution and generation. Yet, the distribution companies keep running at loss. Therefore, I won't advise any serious profit-oriented businessman to focus on supplying power to one state. Instead, break it down into supplying power to a part of state, estate or commercial use only.

That's because most Nigerians who cry that Nigeria doesn't supply steady power are not aware that they cannot afford to pay for it. Hence, most of them bypassed their meters.

Funnily enough, some spend in few weeks to run and service their generators what they would pay NEPA (permit me to call it this) for 3 - 4 months in bills. Because they bypassed their meters, at the end of the day, NEPA doesn't give them steady power supply because they always incur losses after supplying power to people who bypassed their meters.

He won't.
No smart businessman will venture into power generation in Nigeria when distribution
companies are rife with inefficiencies, corruption and debt.
Currently, all Discos are running at a loss and being spoon-fed by the government.

There must be serious reform to attract real investment in the power sector.

@OP.

No. PMB, to his credit, has signed into law the complete and full deregulation of the power sector.

There is now no excuse preventing any serious State gaining 24 hour power supply if the political will and commitment is present.

Many world class providers exist to partner with Nigerian States in PPP arrangements. They are established and very experienced industry giants.

That is the way out to gaining quality power 24 hours supply with contract partners who can help set up a build, operate and transfer (BOT) PPP arrangements with Nigerian States.

The power plant was meant for the refinery alone, it can generate about 450mw. That capacity can power Ibadan Disco, not it is to power Ibadan Disco, get the difference.

As for all those citing removal of electricity from exclusive list, this got nothing with what an investor wants to do. What it only means is that states can now give licences to companies that wish to enter the business of electricity as it is no more exclusive to the federal government.

As for weather he should delve into the electricity sector or not, business people go into businesses that will give them returns and that aligns with their visions and ambitions, it is Damgote's prerogative what he wants to do and I believe he has more information than we can scavenge off the internet, he know more than us.

Good point.

However now electricity supply is now a state government affair. State governments can sign agreements with private coys to generate and power estates, industrial clusters in their respective state and even their whole state if they want to.

State govt must have to be intentional now.

Nigerians should make stiff laws against people who bypass meter..
Like 2 years imprisonment with no option of fine.
