Ghana Can't Survive On Its Own, Forced To Ask IMF For A Loan. Will it help? by DaChosenOne: 6:30am On May 24, 2023 |
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-65622715 Accra Ghana, one of the world's biggest producers of both gold and cocoa, is suffering its worst economic crisis in a generation, with the price of goods rising at an average of 41% over the past year. It has just signed a new bailout programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) worth $3bn (£2.4bn) over three years to help ease the problems and is expected to receive the first tranche of $600m soon, but how much difference will that make? |

Their President talks so much, but does so little. I remember his speaking with different western dignitaries, from Macron to Kamala, or the Swiss representative, that Ghana doesn't need AIDS. Ghana is self-sustaining, Ghana is this, Ghana is that. But see him, he went to beg from the people he had castigated, begging for dollars that the USA will just print out. The cedis has lots about 50% of its value, plunging Ghanaians in debt and poverty. That's to tell you that you can talk as you like, see yourself as above aid or consider your chicken head a tiger head, but realities are different from your delusions. If you won't restructure your political system, invest heavily in education, infrastructure, tackle corruption, and study political models that works, you'll just wasting time and making things worse. African leaders talk so much. No actions at all. That's a very feminine energy. Talk talk talk. Assume the moral high ground, but zero accountability and effort. Except Paul Kagame, it's hard for me to find an African leader that I respect. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Why not ask for some help from the African Development Bank. The headquarter is right there in Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire, less than 90 minutes from the Ghanaian border .

panafrican: So because the US owes, Ghana should do the same? Japan and China hold trillions of US treasuries. How many countries hold Ghanaian treasuries? How many goods does Ghana export compared to the US? Is Cedis the world reserve currency? Sometimes, you so-called PanAfricanists should rethink your economics before talking. Seriously, why is it that many black people don't understand elementary economics? 1 Like |
