I am currently sourcing for Agronomist for Norsworthy Farms.

Job Title: Agronomist
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Asaba, Delta State.

Duties and Responsibilities
In the agronomist role, you will collaborate with farmers and crop researchers to conduct a detailed analysis of crop data. You will be expected to maintain a deep understanding of soil productivity principles and keep tabs on the latest trends and technologies in agronomy. Success in this role will be determined by providing valuable insights that lead to solutions that drive higher crop yields.

Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Maximize crop production from a given acreage of soil.
2. To maximize a deep understanding of soil productivity, principal and keep tabs on the latest trends and technologies on agronomy.
3. To evaluates and improve seed quality and perform experiment to determine and then maximize plant nutrient and soil health.
4. To initiate procurement processes of government approved farm supplies such as fertilizer, seed (non-GMO) weed chemicals and pesticides, and take effective management of such supplies when needed.
5. To organise and supervise chemical weed and pest controls operation in the farm according to National policy on integrated pest management.
6. To prepare activity and technical report on monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually to the organisation.
7. Identify an accurate set of Target in terms of crop yield in conjunction with the organisation,
8. To understand the implication of the weather and making contingency plans such as planning for irrigation.
9. Develop planting and irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines.
10. Evaluate and improve keeping detailed records regarding fields and crop samples.
11. Assisting with the plant sourcing, testing and selection
12. Managing teams of scientist while conducting field visit
13. To perform quality control for seed caliber and soil standards and assesses crop production of the farm.
14. To develop an effective and efficient farming practices, conduct research take and text samples and solve complex agricultural problems.
15. To Develop a better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yields of the farm.
16. To generate reports and presenting findings to Management, clients or other interested parties.
17. To conduct detailed analysis of crop data presentation
18. Research on planning programming and executing measures for maximum for utilisation of lands, labour, capital, sunshine, rainwater, temperature, humidity, Transport and marketing facilities.
19. Assisting with the plant sourcing, testing and selection.
20. Conduct any other activities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
21. Conduct yearly estimation of crop yield.

Required:
1 Minimum of four (4) years’ post-NYSC experience in a similar role.
2 Minimum of a degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field

Skills and Competencies
1 Basic Reporting Skills.
2 Computer Literacy Skills i.e., Excel, MS Office and High level of integrity and honesty.
3 Good Communications and interpersonal skill.
4 Team Player and good at time Management and Organizational Skill.
5 Initiative, Drive, and ability to work with Minimal supervision.
6 Ability to work outside, stand, walk, kneel and stoop for extended periods
