Some Nigerians on Twitter have started trending ‘Black Monday’ to express their displeasure over the inauguration of Bola Tinubu as the country's president.

Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission in March.

Tinubu's declaration as president-elect has been hotly contested, which is one of the reasons his opponents, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, petitioned the election tribunal to overturn his victory.

Many Nigerians had shown their dissatisfaction towards how Tinubu succeeds Muhammadu Buhari, whose administration has been widely adjudged as a failure.

A human rights advocate and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Sowore, described the present political situation of Nigeria as moving from one error to another.

He said, “Nigeria perpetually in circumlocution-moving from error to error! #Revolutionnow.”

Nigerians have also begun to trend a hashtag, ‘Black Monday’ on Twitter, accusing the ruling party, APC, INEC and the judiciary of killing democracy in the country.

"Black Monday as our democracy has been murdered by APC, INEC, and The Judiciary,"
a Twitter user captioned a flyer where today — May 29, 2023, Bola Tinubu's inauguration day — was labelled as "Black Monday."

“Democracy in Nigeria died long ago, we are only realizing it today,”
another user, Nwa tweeted.

According to Kemawilly, the 2023 election could be described as forceful election based on the testimonies shared by some Nigerians.

He said, “Black Monday: It was a forceful selection and not election. This has been confirmed by Tunde Bakare and other true Nigerians, and God will certainly disgrace all the evil conspiracies.”

The type of democracy in Nigeria is a dangerous demon-crazy spear-headed by pen robbers, drug barons and muslim terrorists. It is not a democracy at all. Military government will be better.
