udemzyudex: Most developed countries were rebuilt with illegality. Today, you can’t make video call in Dubai. Why, cause video call from apps like WhatsApp is reducing their income. Even Switzerland today does not fight corruption like we do in Nigeria. Most European country even provide safe haven for corrupt people to keep their loot with them. We must do whatever it takes to make our country become jewel to other countries. |

Raheeqilmaktoom: But that's not what NNPCCL has done, which was what Falana is challenging. They have set the benchmark price for all sales of PMS. More like peak milk claiming all evaporated milk will now be 300/tin. 🥺 |

Dangote is responsible for the removal of fuel subsidy |

Gajagojo:Oga, if we have functional refineries all these years,we would be talking about oil subsidy and it's removal. It is a shame that our past governments didn't do anything to fix our refineries. Obj understood it that government can't run refineries so he sold the refineries to private individuals but next government revoked licenses given to them. I agree that Nigeria government can't run our refineries so Jagaban should sell them to private business men. You don't comprehend my point, we can't be importing the product and removal subsidy, our people will suffer more. Definitely, oil subsidy will go pretty soon but not now |

BTCJagaban:I think you are educated enough to understand what Falana is saying here. He did not again the action of Government to remove the subsidy but for the NNPC to be determined the price product. The reality of the price is 430 not 488 to 560 as NNPC fix it. And this is going to be reviewed. |
Re: Falana Says NNPC’s Decision To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol Is Illegal by TOMMYS: 1:50pm On Jun 03, 2023 |
Raheeqilmaktoom: So NNPC can just increase pump price to #1200 and the government shouldn't interfere because NNPCL dey private now. Haha now. |
Re: Falana Says NNPC’s Decision To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol Is Illegal by gabbytabby: 1:50pm On Jun 03, 2023 |
It would get worst if subsidy is not removed. The government would not be able to pay salary such that there would not be money to buy anything including food talk less of petrol. The situation is really dare. With removal of subsidy there is more money going to state and federal and they then have opportunity to improve transportation for their people amongst other infrastructural developments. 1 Like |

Gajagojo:It turns my stomach when I hear people say the bolded. Who owns Saudi Aramco? Spirits? Are you aware that it is one of the laragest companies in the world and that it has repeatedly achieved the largest annual profits in the corporate world in recent years? Our problem is that our governments over the years have persistently lacked the will to do the right things. They instead find a way to shift that responsibility to us. We always have to pay for their ineptitude and we never have anything to show for it. They took subsidy away from AGO, DPK and power with nothing to show for it. They've done same with PMS now and I'm not going to hinge my hopes on them for the sake of my sanity. 1 Like |

Jagabanarmy:We have always had subsidy You are mixing issues Nothing to do with functional refineries We had functional refineries in the past The issue is that with population and corruption the subsidy budget has grown to the point where it is nearly half of National budget In the past when Buhari was military Minister of petroleum out refineries worked and they were being given a set amount of crude oil at subsidised price. That still had a cost because the oil major like Mobil would still demand to be paid their share We used to be 60 million today we are 200 million and there is leakage to neighbouring cooperate refineries. That is why they don't work It is business and gove Government cannot operate refineries |
Re: Falana Says NNPC’s Decision To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol Is Illegal by emorse(m): 1:53pm On Jun 03, 2023 |
gabbytabby:They said exactly the same thing when they removed subsidy from AGO, DPK and most recently, power. I will not insult you by asking what the power situation in your area is like. |
Re: Falana Says NNPC’s Decision To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol Is Illegal by TOMMYS: 1:54pm On Jun 03, 2023 |
Jagabanarmy: It's is believed that any government which build a refinery for the betterment of the country and not for curruption or capitalism purposes will be hunted down by the colonial masters. Thats why every president before now cannot touch those refineries. Bringing the refineries back to life will expose the actual cost to produce a litre of pms in Nigeria. Don't be surprised pms can actually sell for #100 per litre . |

emorse: It can turn your stomach for ever I am.talking about Nigerians We cannot operate business by government We have carcasses of Government business all over the place. From.Nigeria Airways to NEPA. When you appoint a board people start checking his religion and state of origin and talking of nepotism Two things about Aramco How many ethnic groups are in Saudi When did it list on the market? It is a new listing and it's history is not as sterling as you want to believe. It has a corrupt and dirty past just That it has had 5 times more oil and not as many mouths to feed. Saudi government means Saudi Royal family. They are a tiny group of people not accountable to the people That Is the reality TODAY That will you mention does it happen by wishful thinking We have peculiarities in NIgeria that mean we cannot operate business at the Federal government level State government maybe but federal it won't work |

Vinnie2000: You said it all. If they are honest, they should have waited for Dangote to start production, know how much he is ready to sell the final product based on the cost of production before fixing the price. Now they are using foreign price to determine subsidy rate for a local refinery. They own shares in Dangote refinery and want to milk Nigeria. It should be resisted. Warri and Port Harcourt boys will refine petroleum products for much less. Our leaders are criminals. What do we expect when they forced a criminal on us. 1 Like |

Gajagojo:Let me ask you a quick question bro. Let's assume that a community is experiencing a surge in the number of rape cases. What would you advice should be done? Is it: 1. Compel the females in the community to put on more (or bigger) clothes or even advise them to always remain indoors. Or 2. Find the rapists and make examples of them. I would go with 2 because you don't expect a change in idea where there are no consequences for actions. That thing you call peculiarities is simply our penchant for unaccountability. Too many people go scot-free after perpetrating their evil acts so there is nothing to discourage others. Even private businesses cannot survive under such conditions and that's what has been bedevilling our government corporations. The solution is simply to find the saboteurs and make examples of them. Nigerians as just as good or bad as anyone fro any part of the world. No peculiarities whatsoever. We have just chosen to showcase our "bad" side more often. They said the exact same thing that government (at all levels) cannot manage businesses until a few state governments started acting to the contrary and making profits doing so. Whatever worked for those few states will also work at the federal level. |

Re: Falana Says NNPC’s Decision To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol Is Illegal by emorse(m): 2:28pm On Jun 03, 2023 |
Gajagojo:No proverbs. Just an example. And I explained afterwards. 1. When governments fail, they tend to shift the blame and responsibility to the masses. 2. With accountability, governments can actually manage businesses. 3. It doesn't take much to ensure accountability. Simply make examples of offenders when caught. |

With all due respect to Barr. Falana opinion on subsidy. This is not the time for playing activitism or counter government decision. It's all about reality. Go to develop countries and convert the price of petrol to naira and see. Government is simply saying they don't have the power to subside the price anymore. We must all come to reality. If the labour like they should embark on strike or whatever I can assure you the price will not be reversed. Tinubu will not continue the borrowing besides not all the time you apply for loan it's been granted. Though I know it's very hard on us Nigerians especially because of the minimum wage, government must do something I support that, to enable citizens to have the purchasing capacity. We cannot keep subsidizing the product for all west African countries. No we won't. Welcome to reality my fellow Nigerians |

Showpatos: There's a lot which isn't in the public domain, PIA recommends subsidy to last NOT LATER THAN 18 months after the act comes into force, the current year's budget on the other hand captures subsidy till July, FG can decide to do away with it before the July date without contravening any law. |

emorse:Privatisation is not the corollary to government not being in business so you are confusing yourself Dangote refinery was built from scratch. Not by privatisation of an existing facility The power sector is not just about generation There is transmission too. So the constitutional framework needed to open the space Thankfully that has now happened and state governments can now do their thing So you are not comparing like with like The issue is to make the space attractive to investors and we have seen that with the Deep sea port Lekkiand Dangote refinery both de novo investments NOT privatised facilities Opening transmission and more state government autonomy Quite apart from that is the issue of attracting investment Investors must believe the country is safe and they can get their money out. No foreigner was going to have the kind of confidence in Nigeria that Dangote has so capital is a problem. Also the CBN exchange rate policy. So all round you do not understand the issues and are mixing them up |
