some people would have been having a second thought about W3A, so i feel like posting a proof here on this forum, believe me guys, i changed the location of my dish from 22W position to 7E for W3A, though i was feeling a little sick so i couldnt go thru the stress of locating the bird so i have to calll up my installer to do the tracking.

The most difficult aspect is not getting the azimuth i.e the direction, but the problem is getting the right elevation, as some people have been saying the elevation have to be set to the highest which is 90, mine wasnt up to 90 but about 80-85 degree elevation.
So i watched a little program on saturday and sunday, and all i could say is that damned bird is worth tracking after all.

GO Africa is dedicated for serie A games, western music (latest) and lot more.

But the channel i love most is MSNBC, that station is damned good, i watched a lot of documentaries especially the one relating to crime and i can boldly say, discovery channel cant stand this with the little i watched on saturday/sunday.

For those who installed Nilesat at home, i am quite surprise this past weekend when my installer claimed he can get w3A 7 degrees east on nilesat, and sure he did. I will try and get the picture so those who are interested can also try it. It is a little bit downward left to the real nilesat LNB. With this scenarios, it meas with nilesat dish firmly installed, nilesate users can also add 22 degree west ku or c band and as well as 24.7 degree west, making a total of 4 LNB in addition to nilesat making it five. What is more, you can get as many free channels as one needs.

For hitv users with strong decoders, If you have not rescan your trend tv, do so, they have added another channels making it up to 9 in all, yesterday i saw Trendsport1 and Trendseries. I am sure it wont be long before they scrambled the channel. Remember the frequency is 11747 H 27500.

The problem regarding Mbc is probably not to do with the receiver but that the dish needs to be adjusted i.e. aligned more accurately.

Dont know the size of nilesat dishes, i think it is either 1.2m or 1.8m, those who are familiar with nilesat dish we use in Nigeria will know that.

i guess u must be residing in the northern part for u to be using 1.8m for nilesat. Yes its very possible to track W3A on Nilesat, simply because the degree difference is ver small, just a little turning i.e from 7E for w3a to 7W for nilesat, so one can clearly see that its very possible, but that of 22W i cant boldly confirm, but i think that should be possible using about 2.4m cos of the large parabolic surface area of the dish.

@ Enigma,
why is RDV not going off air i.e coded when premiership matches are to be aired? Cos you can remember that through out last year i was complaining of that, but since the beginning of this year they have really changed, what brought about that great transformation? Do u have any idea?

i'm using a strong 4653X. Here is what i will advice u to do, use this frequency for the tracking 12728H, SR 30000, and make sure u received nothing less than 53-55% when u are using either 4650,4652 strong decoders that is the one without the X, so if you finally connect the X-series, either 4651X or 4653X there will be signal boost, i.e only if you have the X-series available. Cos that's what i did on my part, i told the guy to bring the non X-series and he brought 4650 for tracking so as to make it easier, so he got the signal which was about 49-50%,he was trying to see if he can get to about 60%, since i've known the theories behind the signal levels between the non X and the X-series, i told him to stop cos he couldnt get more than 52% at that particular time, so i brought out my 4653X and the signal went up as high as 68-72% cos its on that freq MSNBC is, and that station has the hishest signal strength, the installer couldnt believe what he saw.
So try to apply this theory on your part and you will have the cause to smile while watching MBC

I reside in Abuja and here in Abuja, we can get c band 22 degree west on nitel dish, but i had never try ku band, and next near the c band 22 degree west, we used to get 27.5 degree west where nolywood was before they moved to eutelsat 4 36 degree east.

Those who are on w3A check for live match of blackburn v. manchester united today at 6pm nigerian time and tomorrow Arsenal v. reading replay at 9pm nigerian time all at mbc3.

Hello Enitan I must say thanks very much for all, well as i called on friend about my bird, well i try my best , which make me have more way about dis sat, i was unable to fixed that out i have to call the guy , not knowing that the direction i was i will not be able to get wat i want, so he said i need to change the position of the Dish, which i can't at that time he came around, he just change his mind that he wanna track for another Sat, which is Eutelsat W4 at 36.0°E,
which we didn't spend up to 5 minute be4 we get the bird wat i can enjoyed on that bird is Nollywood, that is all. But i so much love Eutelsat W3A at 7.0°E.

Pls i need help about Diseqc, i have only one Decoder and to Dish for now , have Pas7,10 and Eutelsat W4 i wan to be watching the 2 Satellite at the same time .
i have to get a Diseqc switch which is 1 in 4, i mean 4 LNb But anytime i hulk up the 2 dish i watch only one satellite i will not get the second satellite and anytime i send the second one i get the satellite, so my question is do u need to do any setup on my Decoder,

thanks for that piece of info, but the exact thing we needed you didnt provide. And the info is will/is MBC be showing during that time, cos they usually have problem with their uplink, try anf get back to us if the signal was on during the period you mentioned above.

i received your text conncerning the new signal strength for the MBC which u said has increased to about 80%, does that meant they dont have signal failure during afternoon/evening because u didnt specify that in your text. Kindly clarify that.

Have u been able to solve ur disq switch? remember I tried it at my place and could not get ur receiver to work with my switch. I think the problem is one of two. maybe ur receiver model does not work with disq switch or the switch version u are using is not compatible. Mine that did not work with yours is 2.0 version. I would suggest u try 1.0 version maybe it will work. let us know the result. I would also suggest u shift to strong receiver. let us know ur experience

does anyone here know how much the quadro LNB cost. I mean lnb with four outlets. There is a polarity conflict when i try to access channels on H when my son is watching on V (I have two receivers).

I also spoke with one of DSTV distributor and he said he had seen this 90cm dish motor. I told him if he can get them, many pple on this forum and beyond would buy and not need to install 4 dishes to get all the fta available to 9ja. I hope he gets it. will tell you all if and when he does.

Greetings And Blessings to all, I have some questions to ask, im a satellite enthusiast in London and at the moment i have 3 dishes pointing to astra 1 + 2 and hotbird, i am able to view the whole German network Premiere, French TPS and Canal +, and polish Polsat, by simply loading software on to my receiver, i do not pay a penny and get the English, French,German, Spanish and dutch leagues all for free.
Now im comming to naija for only the 2nd time in my 40 years of excistance. One of those born raised and lost in the UK you all could say, But any way im cooming home to the mother land and i need to know about satellite in that part of the world because after my brief stay in naija, i will be travelling on to Ghana where i have promised to set up a satellite sytem for my cous who lives there and also a work collegue.
I have done some research on what is available and have concluded that in order to get the best of free to air tv i need to and have shipped over three 90cm dishes with the intention of pointing them to 68.5E intelsat7/10, 36E sesat and 22W, is it true that one can watch the premiership free to air in KU band from 22W ? if so what channel shows premiereship for free using a 90cm dish.
Also why does everyone talk about strong receivers on this and other forums based around satellite in West Africa, are these the only receivers that work with pay networks ?, does the receiver have to be married to the card and activated before you can veiw. I have shipped over multiencryption receivers which i loaded software on to handle virtually any card thrown at it, except MR Murdochs Videogaurd encryption (sky and GTV i beleive) amongst others.
Can somone give me a rundown of what is possible to view when it comes to veiwing pay services, I understand that MYtv and Trend TV run a pay as you go service, how does this work, how much does it cost and what channels are available?, also what about HITV how does that network work, is it a pay monthly service and do they show any free channels
Also do you really need a strong receiver or could my hacked multycrypt receiver do the job, my receivers can read connax, irdeto, secca, nagravision, biss and a few other encryption cards but im not so sure about the activation process by scratch cards to give you credit. how does this work. is the card activated from a central point or through the receiver.
Also has anybody been lucky enough to veiw pay channels without a card, also cannal horizons on 22W does anyone Know if this is encrypted in secca 1 or secca 2. If encrypted in secca 1 does anyone have a link to a website for the secca key codes for cannal Horizons

its so good that you've made the decision to come back home cos there's no place like home. Concerning PAYTV, there're only 2 based in Nigeria in terms of satellite transmission, which are DSTV and HITV.
But the reason for this thread is for those to who dont have PAYTV at home but still want to enjoy satellite transmitted programme, so therefore we dont talk about thoe two, for more info on those two, try and visit Comparing HITV and DSTV thread also on this TV/Movies Section.
So, concerning free to air here in NIgeria, we have basically 3 satellite positions, the fourth one which is TRENDTV on Eutelsat w4 at 36E will soon be going scrmbled cs they are still test running. The 3 satellites are PAS 7/10 68.5E, Eutelsat W3a 7E and NSS7 22W.
I've tried the last two so i can give you the list of stations.

That is all i can write off-hand, you will get complete details at lyngsat.com, for 22W check any stations whose beam is 'west africa' and 7E whose beam is 'afirca'. Those are the stations you will get here and also in Ghana i.e in terms of Free To Air using 90cm dish only.

The issue of premiership at 22W, yes there's a station RDV they air premiership one live match per week, but in case when there're two top matches like Chelsea/Man Utd playing on Saturday and Liverpool/Arsenal playing on sunday, am taking that as an example then be expecting to watch those 2 live matches on that weekend on RDV.
RTS1 also on W3a also air FA cup and Carling Cup, premeirship also included and dont forget that the match being aired on these stations i mentioned are quite different from the one live match being aired by our local channels here in NIgeria.

Canalsat Horizons, Hacked? pls my brother dont put your mind on that, when i installed the NSS7 i was also thinking of hacking into that but i gave up after a futile search. Whether your decoder will unscrambled it that i dont know. Canalsat is using encryption system based on Mediaguard presently known as SECA, whether it is SECA1 or 2, i think Enigma will be in the best position to answer that.

Welcome n wish you the best when you visit West Africa. BTW I saw the same question asked on Alsat but I didn't get involved since guys there were already giving useful suggestions. To add to what Enitan has said: first, it is not really necessary to ship dishes over as you can buy them cheaply enough in Nigeria and prolly in Ghana too. Second, I suspect the receiver you've shipped over is a Technomate which should work with Conax and Irdeto used in Nigeria though GTV in Ghana uses NDS/Videoguard which might be a problem. Strong receivers are popular in Nigeria because Strong targeted the market with Irdeto/Conax enabled receivers suitable for the encryption systems used locally. Hitherto cards are not married to receivers though there are suggestions that DSTV might start doing this.

PS why do you need three dishes for 13e, 19e & 28e in the UK? They can be done on one dish with multi-LNBs or motorised!

thanks so much for that lovely picture you posted, just keep the good work going.
There's a problem i have with watching television, i cant stay glued to a particular channel for more than 5mins, i tuned to several other channels. So in a case am having channels from about 3 satellite e.g NSS7, W3A and PAS7, will i then be turning the dish automatically every few minutes? and by doing this wont i be shortening the lifespan of the motor, and how is the motor well guarded from environmental factors especially in the africa region.
Also i dont think a dish with 4 lnb holders will be able to work in nigeria if the size is 90cm, we can presently view 22W, 7E, 36E and 68.5E, all these satellites have a wide range of angular difference, so i dont think that will be able to work here, even 36E and 68.5E that we can say are close but not that close, the elevation are different, 36E is pointing upwards while that of 68.5E is pointing downwards.

What do you think about that?

Yeah, there is limitation for a multi LNB set up in Nigeria because of the distance between the satellites that can be received on a 90cm dish. Most dishes can only do about a 30 degrees difference for multi LNB though there are some that can do more e.g. the Toroidal Wave frontier T90.

AS for the motor, they are generally tough kits and will not have problems zapping between satellites except that like any other motor equipment wear and tear will of course set in at some point; but even with frequent use, it should still last for quite some time - a number of years. One disadvantage of a motor is that when moving between satellites, it takes some seconds for picture to appear while the motor moves -- unlike diseqc switching which is instant in multi-LNB or multi-satellite set up.

On that dish in the picture, when I move to 24.5w, I can watch NTA here in the UK

Finally, on your earlier question regarding RDV and football, just enjoy the footie for as log as they don't encrypt or black out the picture; I don't really know why they currently leave it open - but it is good news for as long as it lasts.

Finally I think peacenlove was asking about Canalsat on 22w; well it is in Seca 1, I think, but it is not open as the keys are not known.

based on the picture i can understnad how the elevation of the dish can adjust automatically, what about the azimuth, the side-by-side movement explain using the picture.
And also, how long does it take the dish to move from one staellite to the other, talk more about the installation process in case if i can get one here only for research purpose, can u be of help by sending one across i will take care of the payment, what do you say to that?

About w3a and nilesat on the same dish, i thot i mentioned in an earlier post that that was what i was getting, along with Nss7. the only problem is that i had to give up the lnb i was using to get nss7 to use for tracking w3a cos the other messed up one ( costs N500) can't get tvm malagassy or Go Africa (which just so happens to be the bomb), now i can't get STV 1/2, RDV or Canal 2 inter, with the messed up lnb. anyways, as soon as i can squeeze out the time, i hope to get another lnb which someone says is very good for W3a and see how it pans out.

As regard nilesat and w3a on one dish, thanks for the info, in that wise, i will also try to track my nss7 this weekend. In my own case, my TV malagasy works fine, but go africa sometimes freezes.

I only started this in late 2006; what happened was I was living in Egypt and FTA is very popular there but I still had no experience at installing dishes though I started learning the theory - I even asked some questions on this very forum at that time. I started experimenting when I got back to the UK later that year; now I know quite a lot and I have installed dishes for myself and for friends and I am still continually tinkering with my own set up!

thanks so much for posting the link for the feeds frequencies, i say thanks so much again for always coming to our rescue on this forum, cos no man is an island of knowldege.
But as you know no matter how good i think i am, i still always have some questions to ask, the frequencies of those feeds do they also have coverage area just as we have with the real frequencies. How can we know the frequency feeds that can be received in west africa especially in nigeria.
I remember then when u said in some of yur posts then that u were in Egypt and suddenly u were talking about about being in Uk, u asked some questions then,its just a pity that the starter of this thread is nowhere to be found and dont forget the holy book of Xtians once said, some will build a house but another will surely live in it, thats simply whats happening to BIGJOE, he's created a space for proffessional minds to rub minds together, well kudos for him.

there're so many sub-standard strong lnbs in the markets now, i will advice u go for hitv lnbs, they are readily in the market now, and there're no fake of that lnb for now, i cant say later.
