You are right on all fronts. The NLC has become an anachronistic entity. It was a lackey of government from Babangida till recent times. It was silent during covid 19 and as you rightly pointed out during Emefiele disastrous cash confiscation policy. Its involvement in overt support for a political party is its own hamartia.

But guess what? The NLC and TUC will splinter on Wednesday and there will a significant backlash against anyone who interrupts commerce across Nigeria. There are zero protests against the removal of subsidy and there will be significant local and international push back from people opposed to loss of business days and the consequences on output and GDP.

Just like their misstep during the cash confiscation, this step is another misreading of the public mood.
