Everything you want in life comes from other people. Loving relationships, a stable job, money, vacations, cars, clothes, happiness...you better make sure people like you or you won't get any of it. Lots of people say that it doesn't matter what other people think of you...they're wrong. That's the only thing that matters.

You want a loving relationship? You need to impress a girl/boy and make sure they are interested in you. It doesn't matter what you think of yourself, the only thing that matters is who they see you as. You want a job? Better make sure the interviewer likes you. You want to start a business? Better make sure that the customers like you. What you think doesn't matter in the slightest. You can rage and cry and strive as hard as you'd like, but everything you need in life comes from other people. You can desperately try to prove that you are worth your existence, but if other people don't see it that way, then you are truly worthless.

Every single hope and dream you desire is made possible by others. Want to travel the world? Someone had to build the planes and hotels. Want to own a cool car? Someone had to design and build it. Want a wife and kids? You need a willing partner. Nothing you want in life comes from within. Your happiness even comes from other people...lock yourself alone in a room for a month and tell me that you don't need other people (who create the food you will eat and the video games/Internet you will occupy yourself with). Humans don't do so hot in solitary confinement, you need people, and you need them to like you or your life is worthless.

Other people's perception of you is your reality. Those people who everyone thinks less of get less, and eventually get nothing.

That's your opinion.. Anything wey anybody likes make them think of me, nothing concern me!

This is the sort of worldview that makes one easy prey for manipulators and narcissists.

These manipulators can be anyone, including your own parents. Once they sense that you’re a ‘people pleaser’, who cares deeply about how others see you, they will take advantage of you, and engage in various forms of emotional manipulation of you, for their own ends.

You must retain emotional independence even if you need to be nice to your interviewer to get a job. Or to your customer for him to buy again.

Beyond that, you don’t need to impress anyone else. Be yourself.

How about them impressing you?
