Ofadaman:Fallacious assertion. Edit. On reading your whole comment, I'm sorry for highlighting the first part of your comment. I should have highlighted all of it. Firstly, it's not only in Nigeria that business owners take advantage of job seekers. It's a worldwide trend. You need to read or travel. Secondly, I have connections with thousands of Nigerian youths online and offline. All I can say is that we have hardworking and wonderful youths. Which aspect should we mention; software development, web3, writing, digital marketing, data science and machine learning etc. Nigerian youths are doing wonders. Perhaps you're only living with weed smokers and fraudsters. You should go to LinkedIn and review the profile of Nigerian youths. Thirdly, except the role you're hiring for requires no specialty, it's normal that only a small percentage of applicants actually fit your required skillset. For example, you might be a software company that specializes in fintech. If you publish a job vacancy it's normal that software developers who specialise in stuffs like gaming, learning management systems etc also apply. It's left to you to filter out those who do not meet your requirement. Not because they're incompetent and useless but because they're not a good fit for your current role. Finally, from Upwork to LinkedIn to Glassdoor and even Indeed, it's a well-known fact that many jobs there have been filled or are fake. Before I go, I'm not a job applicant. But I've applied to many jobs so I know the hell people go through to land a job. Even people who are gurus and have years of experience. 16 Likes |

Since Emefiele has been the most mentioned name in Nigeria since last weekend, I think Oxford Dictionary should consider creating a space for him in the dictionary. For example: Emefiele/eme-fi-ele/ Adjective: hard, difficult. Verb: Emefiele Past Tense: Emefieled Present Continuous: Emefieleing Present Perfect: Emefielize E.g: ... Some girls always like to emefielize things ... The test was emefielistic ... I had a very emefielized week. ๐๐๐ Emefiele: To complicate, make things worse, unbearable, E.g: ... Please don't come and emeficate issues here. ... The only way to reduce applicants is to emeficate the process. ... How was your exam? It was emefielic. HAVE AN EMEFIELESS WEEKEND. 3 Likes |

They have been running that scam for a while. If more people tell them NO, they would stop the unethical practice. Unfortunately, the high rate of unemployment means most do not have the will-power to say no. Most will ask you to draft a full business plan specific to their business claiming it is part of their recruitment process...I waste(d) no time in telling them off. If I don't have an offer from you, I ain't working for you for free. Simple! 4 Likes |

I agree with the OP to an extent and I have seen some of those .... Once they start asking you deep questions requiring you to outline this and that process, then it is..... Some of them I will manage and give them at the surface answer, but they will still come back and ask you to provide more details. You have not employed someone, it's not certain that you would and you want him or her to prepare detailed documents that you will later use to solve you business problems without employing the candidate 4 Likes |

Ofadaman:pure lie Like Inviting 100 people for interview when position to fill is just 2. Wicked souls 2. Rejecting applicants that can be a threat to your position in the nearest future. E.g A chief accountant without ICAN certificate rejecting an applicant with ICAN certificate cos he seems him as a threat to his position in the organization in the nearest future 5 Likes 1 Share |

integridad:So it's a 5-10minutes job interview that a company conducts that will get them an idea from you the applicant that changes the company fortunes? Clown. The job market in Nigeria is responding to job markets elsewhere in the world where the rate of unemployment is high due to limited job vacancies. In some states in Nigeria self, the goverment is the highest employer of labour! A state where there are no productive private sector employment like Kogi for eg,is bound to be exploited by the little private sector people that employ. If you think it's easy running any kind of genuine business in Nigeria,go set up one and see. |

integridad:That is your personal option, and you don't need to mention and job platform as you do on your post. You can be prosecuted for that and you will pay big time. In my own opinion, the recruiting platform you mentioned, indeed and jobberman are the best platform we have in Nigeria. |
