I just saw on BBC the finacial demand of the White Zimbabwe farmers was not caretered for. Most of the farmers said the banks were not willing to invest in farming and not ready to provide them long term loans. How that will help the country to self-sustaince in agriculture is disturbing. Most of the techniques used int the production of the farm produce are advanced and require huge budget in mechanical equipment and time.Without provision for those equipment it would be very difficult to see the benefitial outputs of these farmers input. After seeing their plight to get their voices heard and why the banks of Agriculture are not willing to fund such long term investment, which would have been a great benefit to boost the agricultural sector, is beyond me. It is sad the govt. is not looking into the agricultural sector having these people in mind. That reminded me of the fund the govt. is borrowing from the world bank to rescue the ailing agriculture in Nigeria. Are these Zimbabwe white farmers among those the fund is going to be expended on? If yes, what has the govt. been waiting for till now before looking into this sector while we virtually import every food stuff in this country? What are actually you guys views of these Zimbabwe white farmers? |

Can't the people who studied agricultural science/agro-economics farm and provide for their own citizenry? Somebody needs to tell GEJ that there should be chicken in every pot; let those who can produce, who are Nigerians should produce. |
