The Federal Government, on Monday, confirmed that it had commenced the implementation of the payment of 7.5 per cent Value Added Tax on Automotive Gas Oil, popularly called diesel.

Officials of the Nigeria Customs Service and Federal Inland Revenue Service confirmed this in Abuja, stressing that AGO was not exempted from the payment of VAT based on the VAT Modification Order 2021.

The development was, however, condemned by Nigerians, who pointed out that citizens were still trying to adjust to the hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, not knowing that plans had been perfected to further raise payments for diesel.

When asked by our correspondent if the NCS was now collecting 7.5 per cent VAT on the imports of AGO, the spokesperson for the service, Abdullahi Maiwada, replied, “Yes.”

He continued, “If you ask me whether Customs collect 7.5 per cent VAT on AGO, I will tell you yes and I’ll give you the reasons. There’s what we call VAT Modification Order 2021, which exempts petroleum products of Harmonised System Codes.

“But the HS Codes for Petroleum products that are exempted from paying VAT are those in the region of 2709.00.00.00 – 2710.19.12.00. The HS Codes are what we use to classify commod

Why not drill the petroleum industry thieves to return their loots? They need to probe all the excessive borrowings of the past administration and the implementation. This is the reason why after elections, they are employing more cyber warriors to defend their nonsense. I hope the employed cyber warriors understand that some of their relatives are the most affected individuals.

Please cut the crap undecided

Is Nigeria a developed country? An average Nigerian barely feeds well, you're talking about tax.
With 30k minimum wage yet the senators are getting massive cashouts. Don't be blindfolded

Everything Tinubu and his successors
achieved in Lagos was the taxing and
taxing of everything and everyone taxable.

That's why many companies and manufacturers left Lagos and moved to
other West African countries that had
friendlier policies to manufacturers.

I knew that Tinubu will bring same policy
on the national level by taxing everything
& everyone without giving anything back.

In less than a month, we are already suffering
this policies, right from us in urban areas
to our relations back in the villages❗️❗️❗️😕
😕

Most developed countries tax their people
well, but also pay their people well and
provide shelter, security and public infrastructure, everything works and there
are good welfare systems in place.

Here in Nigeria, APC tax and tax, but you
provide your security, water, roads, electricity,
transportation and everything else.

A few years back, the Minister Of Defence
lambasted villagers in Katsina and Zamfara
for being unable to confront and fight
the bandits that were terrorizing, kidnapping
and killing them in hundreds, imagine❗️❗️ Same bandits our armed forces are unable to defeat. Every official was afraid of blaming
Buhari, the Commander In Chief of the Armed forces, but preferred to blame the victims for not using dane guns, bows and arrows to face Ak47s, Machine guns and RPGs..

Re: FG Implements 7.5% VAT On Diesel, Nigerians Kick by Streetdoctor: 8:13am On Jun 20, 2023
Let me break down d increment of diesel by 7.5% and electricity by 40%
Diesel is being sold at 650 on average. 7.5 ÷100 =0.075
0.075 × 650 (current price of diesel) = 48.75
What this means is that a liter of diesel has being added by 48.75
So calculate 650 + 48.75 = 698.75. That's in average
So diesel would selling at 698.75 on average

As for d electricity
40% increment ÷ 100 = 0.4 × 49.26 per unit of electricity = 19.704 increment
So therefore, 49.26 + 19.704 = 68.964 per unit starting from July 1, 2023
Nigerians should be ready for d worst of it all

In just 3wks, they increased your fuel price to N500+. Then they Devalued your Naira, & signed a Bogus Student Loan that will skyrocket your School Fees. They just increased your electricity tariff as well. N1000 will only fetch you 10 units by July 1. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
