Tech is amazing! I've spent previous 13 years(up to 2022) working as a Civil/Structural engineer, specialising in designing both domestic and commercial buildings. But you know what? My love for technology has always been there I've even taken the time to teach myself programming languages like Python and Ruby. And during the whole COVID situation, I decided to pursue an online MSc in Data Science. It was a challenge, but I made it through. By God's grace, I landed a job as a devOps Engineer last year, and currently, I hold the position of Senior DevOps Engineer at a cool FinTech company. I'm very proficient in Jenkins, Linux, Ansible, Terraform, and I'm no stranger to various AWS services. Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana. I now want to lay my hands on Google Cloud and VMWare, as they seem to be a must-have skill in today's job market (to be honest you can have a great career without GC and VMWare) and I'm up for the challenge. You know, in the grand scheme of things, there are no limits to the exploration of human knowledge and how it accentuates one's self actualistion. We can keep pushing the boundaries until our very last day. So, why not go for it and win! 12 Likes 2 Shares |

eazzzy1: Dey play. Undergrads of 16 - 25 that self learned on FCC, Udemy, Coursera, YouTube and mastered DSA on leetcode and hackerRanks are earning computer professor annual salary in 2 months. You don't have to be Charles Babbage or Turing before you chop in tech. Pick your weapon ( which was likely built by some guru more proficient that you ), master your weapon and do the damage properly. Comfort is yours. 22 Likes 2 Shares |

It really depends on a number of factors. I would say that the biggest one is: how passionate is she about tech and what kind of tech is she interested in? If she feels she is sufficiently "techy", she can go for an area like software development. It has good financial prospects and global demand. However, not everyone is cut out for it. If she likes something technical but which is a step away from the kind of coding in software development, she can go for something like data analysis. With that she would still deal with figures and more figures. If she isn't really interested in going technical, a relevant area would be business analysis. I teach business analysis and can shed some light on that. Business analysis involves making change happen within organizations. Typically, you would have to elicit (find out) requirements (features that are needed probably in a software or digital transformation project), document them, relate with development teams to ensure that designs and products meet those requirements and are testable etc. You would also need to be able to understand and analyze a business and it's fit in the context of it's internal and external environments. Business analysis is an interesting field. It is also something that can be transitioned into from another career without as much difficulty as many other areas. It does have a good level of demand globally as well. I have a video on my channel about how you can become a business analyst. Software development (Fullstack developer) - HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Tailwind - Javascript (React, Node, Express, jquery) - PHP (Laravel) or Python (Django) - SQL (Mysql) - Nosql (MongoDB) - Docker - Agile (Jira) - Microservices - Github - AWS services Even with one year experience each on them, you can not earn anything less than 300k as salary. |

Since she's good in excel, she should crown it up with PBI/Tableau and SQL. But mind you excel is deep. Moreso, get certified with Microsoft Office Certification (2016) and thank me later. 2 Likes |

lifenajeje: if she is good in excel, Data analyst is the best bet. She can try to upskill herself by getting more excel knowledge related to data analysis and also look into other related tools like power BI and Tableau. And if she has the capacity and want to stand out she can also consider learning python for data analysis which is very useful to perform data cleaning and transformation. I know all these i=because my wife is a data analyst in a reputable company thanks to my guidance. 3 Likes |
