The Chairman of RMAFC,Alhaji Muhammadu Shehu who made the statement about a planned increment of salaries for political office holders for the likes of the President and vice president was on Arise TV morning show,some hours before a publication debunking the information, was defending the increment!

So how is that fake news when the personality whose office is responsible for such increment said so on live TV?

And by the way, how's this even fake news? The RMAFC (an agency of the FG) indeed approved a 114% salary increase for the president and other political office holders. If Tinubu (after witnessing the public condemnation) decides not to give his approval, how does that make it fake news that a 114% hike was approved?

The problem with the news space in Nigeria is that nobody verifies anything.
Once a tweet is out, they all rush and post it, without verifying and I'm talking about big news outlet like the Punch etc.
They will post all sorta of fake news on their social media pages.
Even Kemi Olunloyo does a better job verifying things than most news outlets.

Even The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, chairman made this disclosure on a live TV programme on a media station that it plans an upward salaries review of salaries for political office holders like the president and vice president!

It was only belatedly debunked when the information was met by angry reaction from many Nigerians including those loyal to the current administration!
