When we going to stop peddling this lie?

USA has a social security system that pays poor citizens every month. The system is well managed to reduce corruption to the nearest minimum and ensure that actual citizens benefit.....this is USA

Instead of going after the corrupt elements we are cheering government for scrapping the entire thing.

Everyone will be alright by the time the full effect come full circle
Thank you

Many are blinded by tribalism and can't see the full impact of these things, especially when govt is not ready to use the monies for the masses benefit

Even during COVID, many foreign countries gave palliatives to citizens and non citizens alike( I know a woman in UK running a carehome that receive up to 50million naira when converted)

Our leaders were busy hoarding garri and biscuits and indomie in a lockdown period

People who spoke against it were termed IPOB and all what not
No shaking

Funding SME is not welfarism. Stop sounding like empty brain

Welfare is generally understood as social/economic intervention of government that is not in form of equity participation. These economic subsidies are freebies to SMEs and qualify as welfarism. You are the one sounding dumb and $tuupidd at the same time. Are you cur$ed?

Nigerians are now seeing why and how everyone is just being hypocritical. We were each bleeding this welfarist state yet pointing accusing fingers at politicians alone.

Stop talking rubbish na...!

How have the millions of poverty-stricken Nigerians been milking the so called welfare state compared to politicians and elected leaders?!!

It's stupid to sit in a position of comfortable sycophancy and talk so insensitively about things you don't know.

What real efforts have democratic leaders made in the last 10 years to cut governance costs?!! What investment opportunities have been created?!! How many investors have they invited?!!... How many industries have been stimulated?!

It's bad enough that this nation has been run into the ground by inept and corrupt leaders, now sycophants are putting blames on Citizens who have suffered from administration to administration!

This is almost demonic!

US citizens also pay more in taxes to their government than we do to fund the system...and at a higher rate than we do.

We use oil revenue, which is not enough for a nation of 220 million, and which is reduced heavily by looting and stealing, to fund our welfare projects. And even if there was no looting and stealing, it still won't be enough. In other words we use oil money for things that should be funded by taxes.

That's why we can't have good things like that

(And by the way, i am not excusing bad governance. Infact a sign of bad governance is that our government knows all this, but does not diversify our economy among other things. And fight corruption, so that we can earn money)

Expect more people to start dying in hospital receptions or at home because
Nurses and Doctors will push their prices up , because they now have to pay millions in license fees to their council. If employing hospitals pay for them, they will be bonded by their hospital. The hospital will shoot up their prices to recover the high cost of licenses.

Minimum wage patient that cannot afford hospital fees will be directed to Babalawo or Dibia.

Babalawo or Dibia will request for live Chicken.
Live Chicken is already about N15,000 which is about 50% of minimum wage salary. Patient will just choose to remain home and die. Case closed

You have a high sense of humour guy grin I laughed tire. You should be a director in nollywood or script funny movie writing grin

Pharmacists will also hike price of their drugs in their respective pharmacies.

The way you guys mislead yourselves with baseless assumptions ehh. That is why the North will keep getting aids and developmental projects because of all the false sentiments against the North. Stop saying what you lack facts of. The North is far better than you think.
Thats it..Northerners are not loud. They are conservatives. They pretend as if they are poor so that they can be cornering all the aids coming to the country .Its only in the north that you will see many active NGOs both local and foreign providing welfare and employing northerners. They see govt jobs as empowerment. The welfarism going on in the north, no state in the south can afford it.

ASUU is not a professional body but a trade Union. Pharmacist council of Nigeria is a regulatory agency and not a professional body.

FG has no business funding ICAN, NBA, NMA, ANAN, NSE etc. The people who came together to establish the associations should fund them.

FG included Councils. And PCN means Pharmacists Council of Nigeria. So doesn’t that mean PCN council is among those removed from subsidy? I await your answer.

Those hailing Tinubu for discontinuing funding of especially Federal Councils means that the institutions they run will hike their fees. For instance, Federal University Councils will have to increase the school fees to fund their activities, Pharmacist Council, Medical and Dental Council, Council of Legal Education, the list continues, will all hike fees for pharmacy students, medical and dental students, students in law school etc will all hike their fees to cover the allocation cut off by FG.
So as you are celebrating Tinubu, know the consequences of the actions later on.
It is up to their members to regulate how much can be charged in fees and demand transparency for the use of these fees. No where in the world are professional bodies subsidized. Absolutely no where but Nigeria.

My God, I know the govt is corrupt but if they did subsidised this much, them the govt would bleed.
The president should cut off all form of subsidies apart from education and start investing on new ideas.
The Government should subsidize only primary and secondary education as well as vocational/technical institutes.
Government can then reform the student loan bill to ensure the lower middle class and the poor who want to go to University have access to it.

If you don't understand the professional bodies they're referring to, you ask questions.

The professional bodies and councils are government agencies, and you can't call the budgetary allocations that go to them 'subsidies'.
It's the duty of the government to fund them.

They're different from the professional associations you ignorant folks have in mind.

One important question Nigerians are not asking is thus . After removing these subsidies can the government give us both short-term and long-term plans on what to do with all these funds realized from the removal so we can monitor the judicious use of it?

Or they are just creating more funds to be embezzled.
they won't and they can't...they are corrupt and can't deliver...their hands and brains are tightened by corruption...

But even if they did not loot and steal, we have a low tax to gdp ratio of 10% which can't sustain a welfare program like social security.
