Depends. Made mine purely on the car I wanted. Didn't buy anything else till I could afford it. My rationale: Since nothing could change my mind about the car, no matter what car I bought at the time, I would still buy the car I want. Why not wait till you had enough money?

This is it, exactly what I want to know.
Do people just buy car or they have certain tastes when choosing car to buy.
In your own case, you knew exactly what you wanted and went for it.
The pleasure, the comfort and the satisfaction will all be there as you cruise around.
Thanks man

I personally think that, a person's decision to purchase a particular automobile is often the resultant of an array of factors, ranging from the buyer's self image and the actual performance of the vehicle

I won't agree any less bro
Only that you'll see some persons driving particular cars and wonder how they come up with such decisions.
But like you rightly said above, a person's decision is a reflection of his self image.

I've never seen anyone say something good about Opel cars. They tend to be problematic or I don't know if it's our mechs fault that they can't just fix them.

The vectra' are okay. They were everywhere in the north back then and they were used for taxis and interstate commercial transport so I guess they were reliable. Even the minivan zafira might be okay and I know someone who swears by the Astra 1.8 that he's used for 3 years+. True. Maybe it was just the Omega that was terrible. Even Toyota and Honda has a model or two you won't want to touch with a 10-foot pole.

I wanted a fuel efficient car.
Toyota dealers were making yanga, even my small budget no reach Honda.
Settled for a Nigerian used Hyundai Accent. the previous owner, a friend to a friend, assured me that the engine will last me.

And sure it has. Bought it at 75k millage, now approaching 200k millage and still overtaking Corolla

What year is this your using?

I was lookingnfor a car to get before my wife gave birth, as I didn't want her to be flying bike with my kid. An acquaintance had a Toyota matrix he wanted to sell to raise funds from traveling abroad. I remember being so dazzled by the car. grin Life was just getting kind to me then, so it looked like manna from heaven.

I got the car without any form of inspection whatsoever, and boy did I pay for it. Changed engine and gear, changed suspension. (You can find the story here
https://www.nairaland.com/7638400/bought-lemon-now-want-use)

But the car runs great now, and my wife loves it. Me, I've moved to an Honda Accord 2008. Owner bought it near new in 2009, and only used it for 59k miles when I bought it recently. Couldn't believe my eyes.

I wanted a basic car. Never really considered Toyota as I like to walk my own path most times.
Nearly got a Pontiac Torrent but ended up setting for Honda civic 2008.
I have loved it for nearly two years now but regret it once a while when I go to places with terrible roads.

I just joined the queue recently with Toyota pencil light, I was not planning to buy car this month, I was just having discussion with one man and he received a call, they where bargaining price of a car, he showed me and I like the engine, it was nearly used, that was how I paid for it... I want to oven bake the car before using it... I will comment late but everyone that drove the car fall in love with it... I don't know how strong Toyota pencil light is

I will not argue with you, it is better to buy old model that is neat and reliable than buying newer model with problems

Beside I want to learn with the car..
