On July 14, Prime Video will debut its first unscripted African Original series titled 'LOL: Last One Laughing Naija.' This six-part comedy series is an adaptation of Prime Video's successful global franchise and will feature Nigeria's top-tier comedy and entertainment stars. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the show will bring together 10 renowned comedians, including Okey Bakassi, Acapella, Mr Funny, KieKie, Buchi, Dat Warri Girl, Taaooma, Senator, IGoSave, and Gandoki, for a celebrity showdown where laughter is the ultimate goal.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, head of Nigerian Originals at Prime Video, expressed excitement about showcasing Nigeria's incredible humor and comedic talent in 'LOL: Last One Laughing.' This unscripted series marks a significant milestone as the first African Original to launch on Prime Video, highlighting the platform's commitment to sharing authentic Nigerian stories and genres with audiences worldwide. Ned Mitchell, head of African and Middle East Originals at Prime Video, emphasized the company's dedication to the local TV and film industry.

In 'LOL: Last One Laughing Naija,' the competing comedians will face off in a battle to remain straight-faced. The challenge lasts for six hours, and the simple rule is: if you laugh, you lose. The last comedian to resist the urge to laugh will be declared the winner and will have the opportunity to donate ₦40 million to a local charity of their choice.

Produced by Amazon Studios in collaboration with LiveSpot360 Productions in Nigeria, the series will be available for streaming on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. Viewers can expect two episodes per week, airing back-to-back over a three-week period, starting from July 14 to July 28. The series will also be available in Dolby Atmos, providing an enhanced audio and viewing experience for compatible setups.

'LOL: Last One Laughing Naija' reinforces Prime Video's commitment to delivering local and authentic African content to a global audience. The platform has entered exclusive deals with notable Nigerian directors, producers, and studios, expanding its library of African films and series. This includes an overall deal with Jáde Osiberu and her production company Greoh Studios, as well as a commissioning slate deal with Nemsia Films, beginning with the upcoming release of 'Breath of Life.'

Prime Video continues to be the home for Nigerian theatrical movies, having exclusive licensing agreements with Inkblot and Anthill Studios. Popular titles available on the platform include 'King of Thieves,' 'Hey, You!,' 'Palava!,' 'Beyond the Veil,' 'Grind,' and more. These Nigerian offerings complement Prime Video's extensive selection of global Amazon Original and Exclusive series and movies.

With the launch of 'LOL: Last One Laughing Naija,' Prime Video aims to captivate audiences with authentic Nigerian comedy while showcasing the diversity of African storytelling to a worldwide audience.
