A lake de-icer is the ultimate boat, boathouse, and dock protection tool as it keeps the ice away during winter. De-icers are reasonably priced insurance that help prevent or eliminate ice damage. Also known as dock bubblers, they have a high-speed propeller that brings warmer water from the depths up to the surface to agitate and create open water. The device is powered by a 1 HP stainless steel submersible motor contained within a durable PVC housing. Depending on the conditions and features, de-icers can move anywhere from 300 to 800 gallons of water per minute. A lake de-icer can be installed when the water is completely frozen at the surface; however, installing this device during fall when water is open is much easier.
