Unveiling The Deceptive UTME Top Scorer: The Case Of Ejikeme Mmesoma by dubishub: 10:27am On Jul 04, 2023 |
The integrity of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results faced a significant setback when the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) uncovered fraudulent activities committed by specific candidates. Among these cases, one has caused a substantial uproar, centering around Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, who deceitfully claimed to be the highest scorer in the examination. As the Board's investigations unfolded, it became evident that she had manually inflated her result to unscrupulously gain advantages, including a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors and an anticipated recognition from the Anambra State government. JAMB's Official Response: Restoring Transparency In a recent official statement, JAMB directly addressed the mounting concerns surrounding the credibility of UTME results, triggered by the scandalous actions of candidates like Ejikeme. The Board expressed deep concern over the proliferation of false results being presented by numerous candidates and revealed that these individuals had resorted to deceptive software tools to manipulate their scores. Amongst the disconcerting cases highlighted, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma stood out as the most troubling. She had claimed to achieve a remarkable score of 362 in the UTME, resulting in her being awarded a N3 million scholarship by Chief Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Motors. Additionally, the Anambra State government intended to honor her for this outstanding achievement. However, when the government official reached out to JAMB to verify her results, Ejikeme's claims were swiftly discredited. It was discovered that her actual score was a mere 249, a significant disparity from her falsely declared score of 362. A Cautionary Tale: Uncovering More Deceptive Cases In addition to Ejikeme's case, JAMB has uncovered several other instances of fraudulent candidates. One such individual is Atung Gerald from Kaduna, who made false claims of scoring 380 in the examination. This deceit led to his ethnic group advocating for special recognition on the basis of his inflated score. However, JAMB revealed that Atung had not even obtained the necessary UTME application documents, let alone taken the exam. The Board issued a stern warning to the public, urging them to verify any claims of high scores directly with JAMB to prevent unwarranted honors being bestowed upon undeserving candidates. Furthermore, JAMB cautioned against the use of fraudulent software that can manipulate exam results, a tactic employed by unscrupulous individuals to deceive the public and defraud well-intentioned Nigerians. The Repercussions: JAMB's Stance on Fraudulent Practices In response to Ejikeme's fraudulent actions, JAMB has taken a firm position by announcing the withdrawal of her result and initiating legal proceedings against her. While the Board appreciates the efforts of individuals like Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, who strive to celebrate and encourage academic excellence, they underscore the importance of verifying candidates' results with the Board to prevent the endorsement of deceitful behavior. Ejikeme, in her act of deception, had accessed her UTME result from the Board's platform, manipulated it, and then superimposed it onto a 2022 UTME result sheet, falsely assuming that the format remained unchanged for the 2023 UTME. Looking Ahead: Upholding Integrity JAMB reasserted its unwavering dedication to upholding the integrity of UTME results. The Board unveiled its strategy to thoroughly investigate any candidates making false claims of higher scores than what they genuinely achieved. Those found guilty of manipulation would have their original results revoked and be subject to legal action. These measures are designed to discourage unethical behavior and ensure the credibility and standing of the examination process. The recent incidents serve as a stark reminder to all stakeholders in the education sector that integrity and authenticity must never be compromised under any circumstances. source: https://dubishub.com/fraudulent-utme-top-scorer |
