Shocker - Edo Assembly Probes Dismissal Of Indigenes From Abia Civil Service EDO State House of Assembly, Tuesday, gave its Committee on Public Petition two weeks to investigate the alleged wrongful dismissal of some Edo indigenes from Abia State’s civil service. The directive followed a petition to the state legislature by nine indigenes of the state who alleged that they were dismissed from Abia State’s public service without notice. The petitioners, whose petition was read on the floor of the House, urged the Assembly to pass a resolution asking the Edo Government to re-absorb them into the state public service. The petition reads: “We, the Edo State indigenes, including National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, merit award winners serving in Abia State, want to observe that you have great passion for the protection of the interest of all Edolites domiciled anywhere in the world and in this country irrespective of political or religious affiliations. “We passionately appeal to the House to prevail on Governor Adams Oshiom-hole to direct the re-absorption of all Edo indigenes so affected by the non-indigenes discrimination policy of Abia State Government leading to our removal from the state civil service without notice.” Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Uyigue Igbe, handed the petition to the Committee on Public Petition, directing it to make its report available to the state legislature within two weeks. Good. The shyt has finally hit the fan. Now this naive action by T. Orji has gone outside of the SE. If Orji was smart, he would have understood that Abia is in bad condition so more people are leaving than coming in, especially since the surrounding states and also non-surrounding state are in much much better condition than Abia. With this being said, if(when) the other governors follow suit, he and Abia will be hit worst of all. In fact, as far as the Igbo-speaking states are concerned, I can suspect that alot of the non-indigene civil servants would leave Abia, being that their states are in better condition, but those spot in their states are bring held by Abians. When those states retaliate and send Abians packing, those civil servants sent out by the Abia goverment would gladly go back to their homesome, progressive, and clean states as opposed to Abia. If Abians were smart, they'd use this action as a way over impeaching T. Orji. Now that it has grabbed the eyes of a non-SE region, the more ammo for them. I hope they are smart. |

Orji needs to vacate that seat urgently.I cannot remember who was arguing that of all the candidates fielded in the last election in Abia,Orji was the best. |

Waste of time and money, what in the world are they probing? Your people were fired in pursuance of Gov Orji's visionless programme, fire back or simply don't waste state resources on a meaningless probe. |

I hope this gets bigger, so that clown of a governor -T.A Orji realizes what a silly move he has made. Till he leaves office I will continue to expect Abia to go down. |

The question is, what job? Do those guys in the civil service work? Abians are lili-livered as someone quoted,if it was in your state what could you have done? U will mention Imo State, that was because the contender himself came down to fight for his mandate and he had the support of his people due to his past track record. Where else has it happened in this useless country?Rather they wait for their turn to loot, they do not disturb anybody's turn. Is Edo better?Has Delta with all the militants been able to uproot the Ibori/Uduaghan dynasty? What of our great nation? PDP just boasted the other day that they will rule the country forever. Not because they are performers but because they know we can't do anything. Please spare Abians.T.Orji is both a demon and senseless. And for those who said Abia will continue to go down,it simply means you don't believe in divine intervention. Machmaker simply said it all, since engaging them in physical battle will result in your demise,we hv resorted 2 spiritual means. Time will tell. |

These legislators are jobless. What are they probing? Abia did it to every non indigene. Return the gesture with Abia indigenes in Edo State and use your returned indigenes to fill the vacuum. Waste of tax payers money in probing. |
Re: Edo Assembly To Probe Dismissal Of Indigenes From Abia Civil Service by Bawss1(m): 12:53pm On Oct 06, 2011 |
^ How can you say that? Should this very unwise move by the Abia state govt to dismiss non-indigenes remain unchallenged? Someone had better stick it to them and I say kudos to the Edo HoA for doing so. |

hassymo5:Can you see well? Edo or Abia? udezue:Why are Nigerians still allowing PDP to rule despite its past records of "do or die" politics. Answer please. daywatcher:Are we reading this same thread? What has this got to do Islamic scholar and church? thaddeus85:It is not in best interest of the state cos Abians are more likely to be victimised than ever. How many Abians are under the employ of the State Civil Service? Probably 20% or less. So, your governor is risking the comfortability of thousands of Abians living outside Abia state so that he can pay the minimum wage of 20% of people? If other governors are to retaliate, they wont only sack Abians from their Civil Service but also increase VAT, income tax and property tax of self-employed Abians. Guy, look at the ripple effect, if all the affected Abians went back to Abia. Your state civil service will be too full that your govt will now have genuine excuse for not paying the minimum wage. Just pray that other governors do not do that otherwise, it would be a loose-loose game for you and your state. Ten Kobo: jerryben12: I understand your point of view. But really, the probing will afford the opportunity to know the number of people that were affected and the positions those people were occupying before they were sacked. This will make absorbing them easier and compensating them, more adequate. |

I know Oshiomhole will not descend to the level of T.A,Orji as the intellectuall and visionary gap between them is like the distance between the heavens and the earth.Hence, I hadly can see Edo State sacking any Abian in the Edo State civil service. In any case, what the Abia state government has done is a disgrace! |

T orji and his family has brought noting but shame and disgrace to my GOD'S OWN STATE abia. Am not suprise cos his is a product of PDP, His a man without vision. God will remenber us the he did for IMO & AKWA IBOM. |
Re: Edo Assembly To Probe Dismissal Of Indigenes From Abia Civil Service by Okijajuju1(m): 2:48pm On Oct 06, 2011 |
Every state should simply fire and evict indigenes of Abia state from their individual states. For an Abian to own or live in any state apart from theirs, they should be subjected to a series of bureaucracies and made to apply for a resident and work permit. |

Re: Edo Assembly To Probe Dismissal Of Indigenes From Abia Civil Service by Ngwakwe: 7:44pm On Oct 06, 2011 |
@Nairalanders For your information most Abians acquire indigene certificate of the locals in their respective states of residence before applying for civil service jobs hence are more accepted as indigenes than the main locals according to their personal profiles. My brothers have been doing this and therefore cannot be dismissed |
Re: Edo Assembly To Probe Dismissal Of Indigenes From Abia Civil Service by PhysicsQED(m): 8:00pm On Oct 06, 2011 |
Ngwakwe: What is this nonsense? Anybody can be dismissed from anywhere if other governors suddenly become as insecure as Orji. The guy screwed up. Nothing surprising about that. The guy is loathed by so many in his own state and this move will only expand his hate-base. @ thread, Oshiomhole's government will probably do the right thing and find a way to make them useful to the Edo state government. |
