You should read books like ; Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim and The psychology of Money and the Science of Money by Brian Tracy; to know more on where to apply online, when and why, because it’s depends on the field, According to Forbes almost 80 percent of new businesses fail or go bankrupt within two years, it’s because of the above reasons I mentioned. Just now I was reading a thread, on a Silicon Valley company which got a funding of around $400m(400 billion naira) approximately, but lost it all just before the launch of its first product.

E.g the actual owner of WhatsApp was just a dude which was rejected several times by facebook as an intern, but later made WhatsApp and sold it for more than $15bn( worth even more than our Dangote) at that time, so internet works bro 📈💯
So it’s all about getting the right people in the right place for the right reasons at the right time.

Bro..u dey read too much of America Authors.

If you have bootstrapped a business in Nigeria, you will understand that America economy and Nigeria economy dont work on same parameters.

Principles on those books works, but it need serious adaptation to apply it here and get similar results.

Op is asking for a practical answer, not untested Principles.
Sorry if my reply is too harsh!

That business is already saturated

Lol,so because there are alot of Keke drivers in Lagos, means if you buy your own and wants to drive means you won't see passengers.

Do you know what water business is?

People make millions from this business every month,if you know the business very well.
Good management is everything.

The only thing is that you need alot of capital to go onto it,that's why you haven't seen people building factories everywhere.

Okay. But please you are only leasing out your equipment or tool to companies (it could be indigenous ) that have been awarded the contracts.

Yes. Most of those companies are in some way beholden to NNPC or DPR as JV partner or something. Nigeria is a Communist country, understand that and everything becomes clear.

When you're a partner and operating a business, you may have to submit records of expenses for reimbursement. These companies reported their costs to NNPC or whoever for reimbursement. Use your imagination, I will say no more. That's how they made good profits...or maybe inordinate profits smiley

Like I said your idea is reasonable. I operated in the mining and heavy equipment industry when I moved back to Nigeria. I learned enough about Nigeria to know it's a Zoo. I wish nothing but the best for Nigeria but THE PEOPLE have been so beaten down by POVERTY and the resulting DESPERATION makes it hard for them to think properly.

Nothing harsh in your reply. It's your opinion.

My opinion is that EVERY economy in every nation operates on the same principles that determine success or failure.

Government flouting of economic principles MAY be profitable for some INDIVIDUALS but will definitely lead to GENERAL economic depression. The Nigerian experience with fuel subsidy is a good example.

Happy Sunday to you.

Guys I'm asking for a friend , if you are based abroad and earn 2.5 million naira after tax, what would you invest in Nigeria??
What to invest in would depend on your end goal...is your goal to be wealthy or to be rich or to be very very comfortable .... do you want to vacay with ur family on yacht, do u just want to go watch UCL finals with ur children or you want to hold season ticket for ur family it depends on the goal.....however you may start with some form of real estate with proper counsel though....however if you have the drive and business energy, there's still so much money to be made from Nigerians....use tech to provide a solution....

You don't need to be based abroad to earn same in Nigeria.

For the enquiry, I would advise investments in transportation and agriculture.

Looooool @ Transportation..... a very big loool..even if u dey sit inside d car with ur driver 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day, 60 minutes an hour, 60 seconds a minute, 1000 milliseconds a second, somehow it will still end In premium tears

Why do you guys living abroad convert your earnings into Naira when you spend Dollars/ Pounds or Euros?

How much is your disposable income in your currency after all your expenses? Then you can convert to Naira in the current rate to know how much you can invest in Nigeria.

Besides, why do you want to invest in Naira when everyone who can gather small change is investing outside the country?

Except you want to invest here for someone/people to manage & own in Nigeria, your funds would keep depreciating.

Invest nothing into Nigeria UNTIL the naira is completely floated and the Land Use Act is repealed to grant property rights to the people. That’s a minimum and it's not a drastic requirement.

There's more secure places to invest and get better returns with less worries.

A word is good enough for reasonable persons. Look at the level of FDI into Nigeria and take your cues.

In fact it's advisable for Nigerians to continuously convert their holdings to dollars and pounds sterling and move it beyond the reach of Nigerian government. All your top government officials and politicians do exactly that so why would you do otherwise...they know what's going on.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
