WIFE OF THE NIGERIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE REPUBLIC OF BURUNDI BAGS AWLO’s PHENOMENAL WOMAN AWARD 2023.

The African Women in Leadership Organization (AWLO) has conferred on Her Excellency Lady Udo Onyeagba, the 2023 AWLO Phenomenal Woman for the year award during the International Women Conference held in Arusha, Tanzania.

The AWLO is a not-for-profit organisation with membership that is open to all women of African descent. AWLO brings together female executives, professionals and leaders to further advance the leadership status of women in the continent of Africa, by creating an empowering platform and harnessing the synergies of alliance.

Delivering a keynote address on the rationale behind the conference held on 5th-8th of July 2023, Dr Elisha Attai, Founder AWLO, said the gathering was inspired by a need to spur progress in the continent and urged women across board to defy the odds posed by gender inequality in the continent and attain the heights of their career and professional development.

Receiving the award, Lady Udo Onyeagba thanked organizers of the award for recognizing her inputs to humanity and promised to continue investing more in making the world a better place.

*Her Excellency Mrs Udo Onyeagba is the Founding President of Association Of Spouses of Nigerian Ambassadors (ASNA), a Goodwill Ambassador for the African Regional Council of Women (ARCW- CRAF) and a LifeMember of the International Council of Women (ICW-CIF). She is also the Global Vice-President of Women of Glory Foundation, UN Eminent Peace Ambassador and Matron of African Ambassadors Network Forum (AANEF).*

A philanthropist at heart, she runs a weekly feeding program to support the less privileged in Burundi where children are fed and the elderly receive monetary assistance. She also runs a
Revolving Fund Management System to help SMEs that need financing to get back on their feet. Back home in Nigeria through her NGO, L.E.A.D. Foundation, she empowers women through Skill Acquisition Programs in the field of Fashion Design and Catering.

In attendance at the Conference were the first female Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Chief (Dr) Jewel Howard-Taylor; Vice President of Liberia/Board Chair of AWLO and Dr. Eunice Erdoo Ortom, Founder, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation & Former First Lady, Benue State.

Also on the list were Professor Uduakobong Archibong, Professor of Diversity & Pro Vice Chancellor, Center for Diversity & Inclusion, University of Bradford, UK; Professor Engobo Emeseh, Head, School of Law, University of Bradford, UK; and Dr. Jayne Onwomere, Group Managing Director, PWAN Group, Nigeria.

Others include Chief Dele Momodu, Publisher, Ovation International; Mr. Moses Siasia, Chairman/CEO, Mosilo Group; Senator Prof. Margaret J. Kamar, Deputy Speaker, Kenyan Senate; Kadijatu Grace Ahene, Founder, Psychology of Winning; Engineer Lightness Salema, Business Executive and Social Development Specialist; Sarah Beysolow Nyanti, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations serving as Head of UN Office in South Sudan; Lady Josephine Nwaeze, Managing Director, News Engineering Nigeria Limited; and Zanele Tsambo, International Trade Specialist, South Africa
