Why do some men (or should I say boys) assume that all Nigerian girls are the same?

A boy will stay in his state of Lagos or Edo or Enugu and conclude that all Nigerian girls are leeches just because of what he has experience in that particular state in the hands of one or two girls.

A girl will stay in her state of Oyo or Rivers or Anambra and conclude that Nigerian men are stingy or unromantic just because of her experiences with one or two men in those states.

Usually, people who make these stereotypical statements have not been to more than three States out of the 36 States in the country. Most of them have never been outside their geopolitical regions before. They spent all their lives in their regions. But they are quick to make a sweeping statement like "Nigerian girls are..." and "Nigerian men are..."

One wonders how they come about their statistics to conclude on the habits of a particular set of people. Before you make a sweeping statement about Nigeria men or women, you should have at least visited and experienced 30 out of the 36 states in the country.

stereotypes exist because they're grounded in some form of reality
