Why Nigerians Can’t Withdraw Paypal Fund But Can Spend Though The Platform? by buzweb: 9:17pm On Jul 21, 2023
Hi, up till now, Nigeria is not allowed to create a functional official PayPal account that can withdraw fund seamlessly. Though using other countries url link is possible but it’s frowned upon by PayPal. It’s really annoying and frustrating. While countries like Lesotho, South Africa, Morocco and other countries in the world are allowed to create such, the giant of Africa isn’t. There are E-commerce and other online platforms where one can sell stuffs like digital products or make use of PayPal service to receive money, but these platforms accept payment only through PayPal for most African countries.
I spent time to check Nigerians that sell products on some E-commerce platforms like Etsy (Though Nigerians can’t create account at the moments) and creativemarket platform. The number was too small. Having issues with receiving the money when a sale is made is the major problem. These are ways Nigerians can earn money online. Freelancing platforms at least tried because most of them accept Payoneer and bank deposit.
Has this problem to do with CBN policy or high fraud rate in the country or PayPal just being rude to us? If it’s fraud, there’s no country without fraudulent activities. Besides it doesn’t stop people from manipulating the platform. Also having a system that detects fraud shows you are capable and also confident about your system.
If it’s CBN policy like introducing different policies every time, it’s high time something was done because it’s affecting us. I wanted to create a Shopify account to sell digital products in dollars but couldn’t proceed because the payment options available to Nigerians is Naira. Shopify payment , PayPal and other major payments were not available.
Why are we allowed to spend through PayPal but can’t withdraw through it? It’s just like encouraging us to spend money out but can’t receive or earn through the same platform into the country.
I understand one can use other counties url link but why can’t the Giant of Africa be allowed to officially receive fund just like it’s easy for other countries.
Please what do you think is the problem and how to resolve this issue.
