The other day, it was Russia introducing Yoruba as the first African language to be taught in their university. Then, the Chinese unveiled the first African language textbook (Yorùbá textbooks), and now this.

Abeg let the inferior tribe breath grin grin

They have been teaching yoruba language in Brazil, Cuba, Togo, Benin Republic, El Salvador Trinidad and Tobago, Sierra leone.

And yoruba is among the most spoken African language in the United States, Republic of Ireland and UK

Even within Nigeria, UI and UNILAG have Igbo department but no yoruba language department outside yorubaland. See little things they are celebrating

Yorubaland is a melting point where other tribes find solace. How many Yorubas will you see trooping to other regions for tertiary education when majority of SW universities are the best in the country.

As a musician in music industry today, if you never mix that your song with Yoruba, you no go blow.

That's awesome... It's been going on for years now. Many American students also visit Nigerian Universities on exchange programs annually to hone their skills in the Yoruba language which many speak fluently on finishing their programs.

Nice to see that the Yoruba culture and religion have maintained international consistency from USA to Cuba to Brazil, UK, France, Trinidad, Venezuela, etc.

One thing you can't take away from Yorubas is that they are very proud of their language and very determined to preserve it forever by all means. For instance, children of Yoruba families abroad speak Yoruba fluently, like those in the Southwest.

Unlike we Igbo parents, who focus too much on teaching our kids English over our native language. You will see many Igbo kids who were born and bred in the Southeast who can neither speak nor understand Igbo. If Igbos continue this way, our language will disappear like many others that are instinct.
