Immediate past Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, with his new initiative, Future Perspective, is partnering with the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC) to transform education in Nigeria, while building capacity for the youth.

To this effect, the two organisations, Future Perspectives and UNESCO IESALC would be hosting a virtual interactive dialogue with young education innovators in Nigeria on Thursday, July 27 2023, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm WAT, as part of the capacity-building component of the United Nations Global Youth Initiative.

According to the organisers, the theme of the event is “EdTech for Transforming Education in Nigeria,” and it will explore the main challenges viz-a-viz Social, Economic, Infrastructural, and Legal that EdTech innovators face in Nigeria to implement as well as solutions that have been applied to scale their innovations.

Six youth education innovators and partner stakeholders from different backgrounds and levels of engagement in EdTech, such as practitioners, creators, advocates, and policymakers will participate in the programme.

The Future Perspectives had signed an agreement to co-launch the UN Global Youth Initiative Capacity Building — Innovation to Transform Education Training (ITET) with UNESCO IESALC in Africa.

The founder of Future Perspectives, Prof Osinbajo, and a special guest, will give the keynote address to kick off the event which is also aimed at exploring how Nigerian youth are adopting EdTech to innovate their own learning paths through higher education and their transition to the labour market.

Coming with a solution-providing template, the programme will “Discuss, Analyse and Explore,” as according to organisers, the format is to:

“Discuss how is EdTech being incorporated within Higher Education Institutions and what are the main challenges for its meaningful adoption by learners and teachers.

“Analyze how EdTech is contributing or can further contribute to democratizing access to higher education.

“Explore the main challenges, social, economic, infrastructural, legal – EdTech innovators face in Nigeria to implement and scale their creations.”
