Re-arresting An Accused Within The Court Premises Is Not New by OsunOriginal: 10:27pm On Jul 25, 2023 |
I have been reading with keen interest comments from Nigerians following the drama that ensued at the court premises between the DSS and the prison officials today. Since time immemorial and many times in the past, security agents have re-arrested accused persons after being granted bail by courts. An accused may be granted bail or even discharged in one case and then be re-arrested for another case within the court premises. So, what is the noise about Emefiele's re-arrest? Why did the prison officials act as if something unexpected was about to happen? Why did they act in a way that may be interpreted as preventing the law officers (DSS) from carrying out their duty? Is there a law that says security agents can't arrest an accused within the court premises? 1 Like |

Emefiele is even lucky that he's been allowed to be taken to the court. 1 Like |

OsunOriginal: We celebrate impunity too much in this country, the DSS had 8 years to study this man and keep him on their trail, only to charge him for illegal possession of firearm As in a cbn governor oo, when we know what big boys in the country even do to our policemen(though not right either) I was expecting a charge that he can never deny at the court of law, but welcome to nigeria where law enforcement agencies act more thuggish than agberos themselves 3 Likes |

When I talk it seems I say too much. 98% of propaganda in the politics section concerning APC issues, are from OSUN State. OSUN State Agbado members are the most useless set of irresponsible mizcreants that are recruited by their oppressors to churn out vile and false propaganda. It's no surprise, because the State is dormant/broke, and totally a cesspit of uselessness....spits 3 Likes |

OsunOriginal: Thats like saying that politicians stealing money is not new in Nigeria, so why the noise? That something is being done with impunity does not make it right, nor normalise it. When an authority which arrested a suspect takes him to court, then re-arrests the same suspect they just charged to court, then something fishy is going on 1 Like |

OsunOriginal:Disregard those comments coming from sore losers and enemies of Nigeria. They are same people that promised to destroy the zoo. They are genetically wired to hate everyone. Look at the antecedents of those writing rubbish to understand that they also supported Mmesoma and Obifool. |

OsunOriginal:You have spoken well within the ambit of the law. So long a suspect is standing trial for arrays of charges as in Emefiele's case now, he can still be rearrested on other pending charges after securing bail on one or more charges in as much as the courts did not declared him 'discharge and acquitted '. Discharge is one thing, acquitted means another thing. So DSS is on track and did not disobey any court order. |

OsunOriginal:. When a court grants bail for an accused person ,the accussed can be rearested outside the court for another offence for prosecution. If a court says an accused is discharged he can be rearested outside the court for another offence or same offence for a better prosecution. If the court says a person is discharged and acquitted in a case , nobody can rearrest him for the same offence again. He can however be prosecuted for another offence. 2 Likes |

Of course the prison officials want their own share of the CBN looted funds from Emefiele, including his lawyers. Who doesn't know that Emefiele is a billionaire courtesy the CBN vaults? |
