My story: after i finished my youth service in adamawa state in june 2o11, the money i was able to save was used in setting up an ict centre just 2mths old, and thank God i have no regret or what so ever, with 3 stds now, two among them are serving corp members, and i'm also engaged in teaching in a private secondary school. I am sharing this because of the topic to motivate those still in school, unemployed. I tell you guys the country is really in a pathetic situation. Help yourself and God will surely elevate you.

Nice post, i believe we all should tell our younger ones that are still in the university to learn skills relative to their course.
After i graduated i got a job of 30k per month despite having my CCNA, and a Bsc. i resigned 2wks after cos i could not cope. when i was doing my engineering job on the street i make average of 50k per month. immediately when i resigned and i decided to take my street level to establishment level God has been faithful. now i legitimately make over 200k per month from business, contracts and installations.
pls encourage people to believe in what they can do with their hands. initially it might be difficult but at the end u will smile

If you can sell, I can supply and you get commission. I can supply anything from the United States if you have a ready buyer. When I say anything I mean anything! Laptops, security systems, phones, cars etc. You can make money from me if you are sincere and not a thief. I have enaged people in the past that ate once and never returned. Don't be one of those. You can build your leads from me. Identify what your friends, families  and customers need and we will price accordingly and include your commission. This is called using other people's money to make wealth. Jerrybenchi@yahoo.com. It is a job. Start from little to something big.

@ Poster, Good point, but I will like to remind you that there are many of such in Nigeria, but there are so many hurdles for them to cross, which technically they can do nothing about. For one to be a successful entrepreneur anywhere in the world.

- Access to low interest rate loans

- Constant electricity

- relatively fast internet

-Efficient and secure payment platforms

How can many youths be successful without these things available? that is my question for you!

I'm a fresh graduate of university of ilorin and i studied plant biology (botany). Am always pessimistic about getting a job out there because the course i studied is not that lucrative like other professional courses . . . . . . My only hope is the little change i'll be able to save during my service year (at least 150k) and additional funds to start a business . .
. .
If u have any GOOD offer for me, u can inbox me on martinsegzy@gmail.com. . . . .
I'll be going for my service by february nxt year

i am impressed that Nigerian unemployed, underemployed and even the employed are thinking in this direction. We have started expanding our realities. This is a great movement that saw India becoming a recognized emerging market. I believe very soon the unemployment saga will soon be over cos many minds are now skewed towards Entrepreneurship. GOOD POST

There's this President Jonathan's youth empowerment innovation which was launched on the 11th of this month going on geared at youths who want to be entrepreneurs and employer of labour. You might want to register and submit your ideas and after review, you could get from a million naira to 10 million to be self employed. This is open to people btw the ages of 18-35yrs that are in business and want to expand or that are just about starting a business and require start up capital. You might want to check out this site for details.

I appreciate your reactions. I'm glad most of us are seeing this the same way, we need to work as a team making concerted efforts to achieve a common goal cos its obvious that the natural talent is there in us.

Laalamed, Idon't know if you re getting me quite right, I'm talking about working together as a team at that stage when a graduate's individual effort might not be able to pull off much without support and yet you ask of solutions. Afterall "even postage stamps become pretty useless when they get stuck on themselves"
.P.S: Are you a witness?

Cgem:I acknowledge your observations, nonetheless these factors are not causes of "failure" in themselves but rather the fear we allow to inhibit us from trying out. The average nigerian(you & me) need know how to draft a business plan and should be able to write a good proposal. It is what we have within that manifests without, if you have what they want they would bid for your proposal(s).
Let's begin to frustrate tradition with our creativity and imagination

Nope! You rather encourage them to acquire skills outside of their field cos they never know which will earn them a living. It's wiser to create multiple options in a pejob scarce environment than limit oneself to only a single field one is also being certified to be good at. Does any1 in higher institution need advice to know they're supposed to be skillfull in their chosen field, before they think of spreading their wings beyond it? With all the competition out there?
