The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike any day labour leaders are summoned to the court by the Federal Government through the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN).

The NLC had said on Wednesday that it received a summons accusing its members of contempt of court by embarking on a nationwide protest, despite a court ruling against the action.

In a statement issued at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting and signed by its President, Joe Ajaero, and General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, the NLC demanded the immediate withdrawal of “this litigious terrorism by the Federal Ministry of Justice before the end of work Friday, August 11, 2023

The NEC of the NLC also resolved as follows:

“To support and affirm the decision to suspend further protest on the nationwide mass protest.

“To commit to maintaining the required vigilance needed to hold government accountable on its assurances and governance in general.

“To commit to the terminal date of August 19, 2023 within which the issues around the petroleum price hike will be agreed, given the assurances of the President and the National Assembly.

“To go on total strike across the country any day labour leaders are summoned to Court by the government through the NICN.

“To demand the immediate withdrawal of this litigious terrorism by the Federal Ministry of Justice before the end of work Friday, August 11, 2023.

“To embark on a nationwide comprehensive strike beginning Monday, August 14, 2023, if this contemptuous court summons are not withdrawn by whosoever initiated it.

“While commending the national leadership and all the state officers for the effective coordination of the protest, it urged all affiliates and state councils, including our civil society allies, to stay further action but to remain focused and eternally vigilant.”

An insensitive government that should be on her knees pleading with her workforce for the hardship brought upon them is going behind to sue NLC for carrying out her constitutional right to protest undecided

I commend Joe Ajaero for cowardly embarking on only a one day meaningless protest. The Federal ministry of Justice should withdraw the contempt charge because it was a protest not a strike. The FG should let sleeping dogs lie.

AJAERO AND EMEFIELE WISH TO BE ROASTED PATAPATA.

THE STRIKE AND THE NAIRA REDESIGN HOCUS POCUS ARE SUFFICIENT GROUNDS TO ROAST AJAERO AND EMEFIELE.
NIGERIA SHOULD BE WORSHIPPING THE SUPREME COURT NOW FOR 31/12/23.

Mess with Jagaban and find out

You embarked on a strike without considering the judgment of the industrial court cos obidots people were cheering you on and leading you astray.

You have now done the right thing by calling off the strike after listening to the President and your attention was called to the court judgment

Instead of you to drop your Ego and plead for the government to withdraw the court case, you're now boasting of calling a nationwide strike on the days of the court cases

Nigerians will no longer fight for you guys! You're on your own. Go and bear the cost of the judgment alone.

You never see anything yet. Jagaban is not your mate

Only obidots and ipob will sit at home on the days of your court cases.
