pls anybody with needed information shld pls help.

My 8 and half yrs old daughter makes simple spelling mistakes and she is in primary 4. She can hardly spell simple words nd even when copying from a txtbook she makes mistakes. Its so frustrating really. She attends a good school and has a home teacher. While i myself usually go thru and teach her myself sometimes.
Meanwhile her other siblings are not like that.i dont really know what to do.its frustrating??
Let me add that her maths level is ok but same mistake prone.
Socially she is ok though a bit shy sometimes.

as the poster above me said, she is most likely dyslexic. its a learning disorder that can be managed if diagnosed early and the right care is given. too bad we live in a country where there is little or no awareness of conditions like this. i have a neighbour that is having similar issues and he's almost 14! i try my best to teach him but the progress is too slow as he's older and not really willing to learn.
@ifetemi, don't give up on your little girl, don't let her give up on herself. you need to get a tutor who will carefully and patiently teach her(if you can't do it yourself) . don't be too harsh on her and don't pet her either. there are a lot of dyslexic people out there who have managed to achieved success inspite of their limitations

THe person needs a special teacher outside the school system ,In Nigeria they are quickly condenmed and sent to train in technical areas,but its manged properly in other places and the person adapts to normal life after a while.Its not the girl fault

@poster,am not disputing the fact that ur daughter is dyslexic as thetfirst poster highlighted but issues like this could be corrected with time and the right supplements,i can recommend a supplement-lecithin+calcium and zinc supplement,a very good combination am 90% sure can help her condition,and she must always have a gud sleep u can try that n see how it goes.

@original poster

she's probably dyslexic,you should take her to see a specialist,i would suggest a paediatrician immediately.NEVER SELF-MEDICATE YOUR CHILD.

As suggested by other posters, your daughter is probably dyslexic. Really no reason to be disheartened, she should be fine if you manage it well.

PS: It's often said that Albert Einstein was dyslexic.
