Gen Abacha had the seasoned Anthony Ani as Minister of Finance and still fleeced Nigeria. Look, appointing a seasoned economist as figure head Prime Minister doesn't stop Junta from looting. The appointment is PR. Nobody argues with a man holding an AK47.

Soldiers are not trained to govern any country. It is an aberration. Coup plotters don't come with any roadmap to develop the country. Things are done according to whims and caprices of the junta leader. They are accountable to nobody. Besides, coup plotting is a high risk venture and looting the country is usually the dividend.

Soldiers are trained to kill enemies of the country. They give orders and orders are obeyed strictly in line with some rigid hierarchical structure.

I agree soldiers are not trained to govern, but African politicians have failed to govern. Bozum is more concerned with USA and Europe security interests, while the country wallow in extreme poverty.

reading from all responses to the post,

I realized that Nigeria is far from redemption if we see ourselves as the liberation force of Africa and have this tribal egoism enshrined in the fiber of our moral values, how do we want to move?

It's not the oppressor oppressing us anymore, it is we the oppressed oppressing ourselves. and am a Yoruba, the way a Yoruba man will think is different from the ways a man from another tribe will, we are all working towards a goal. adage "Yoruba man says, your neighbor is eating poison and you saying it is not you and it is not your business when the problem starts, then you will realize you should have stopped him.

Have you ever seen a military coup that has moved a country forward? or have you not heard of a coup that spills to neighboring countries, if we don't react as a sovereign nation, we will all face the music soon.

Go back in history and you will understand better. A case study is one in our country. (Babagida and Abacha time).

I Remain my humble self "SEALL"

Most of the infrastructure we enjoy in Nigeria today were built by the military. Looting, corruption, election rigging by successive civilians is worse than what we saw during the military.

Let Niger be. Let them decide their own destiny

You are the one who is deluded. Which economic stability? In 1983 Nigerians did not need a visa to enter the UK. Exchange rate was $ -13 naira. Since then what has happened.

Some of us don't need history books. I was 8 during the civil war - don't talk twaddle.

Check what Botswana has been able to accomplish with a stable democratic government.

You delusion right here in your comment. Have you ever had it any better in this democrāzy since 1999?

I see your opinion. But my problem with you is that your analysis is not what we see on ground. I stand to be corrected. Democratic rule has caused more harm than good to the people. Look at African nations and level of Injustice, riggings, massive looting of national wealth and keeping power within their cycle to cover their tracks. Let's leave Niger alone and see what miliary can offer again. The international communities are watching and bet it they will want to make an impression.

I see lots of Id*outs here.

As I speak there are reports by the military leaders of Niger Republic that the French have invaded their airspace and have released rebels(aka, terrorists) in the country. These demons in the west will not leave Africa alone.

Northern Muslims what is your problem? Why are you quiet about the happenings in Niger and Nigerian puppets aggression against these people of Niger?

Tinubu and the very short sighted Yoruba are plunging West Africa and even the whole of Africa in a mess just to prove "Jagaban" and so called "pepper the Igbos", what say you Northern Muslims?

I am a Christian from Southern Kaduna, this fight is neither cause of religion, tribe or politics, it is for the liberation of all Africa and the Black people from centuries and centuries of steady subjugation, slavery, colonialism, neocolonialism, mockery, oppression, racism, stealing, killings, sabotage and destructions of all Africa and Blacks.

Me nene matalan ku yan Arewa? Wawanchin Bai isa aka ba? Kun king jinin Nyamarai sosai Kun zama wawayu? (I can't write in Hausa much)

To the average Yoruba everything is tribalism and deep seated hate and jealousy , recklessness at the expense of their own good and freedom from Western hegemony. Awon 'we are eternal slaves and lovers of the west'.

We are watching!
You truly have eyes.

Facts You Didn't Know About Niger's New Transitional Prime Minister

The coup leaders in Niger have appointed an economist, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, as the transitional prime minister of the West African country.

Zeine, 58, served as finance minister under Mamadou Tandja, who led the country from 1999 to 2010 after its return to civilian rule.

He currently serves as the African Development Bank’s Country Manager for Chad and previously served at the same institution and position in Ivory Coast and Gabon.

How can African Militricians, especially Nigerians without the knowledge of history, Agreement and contract suddenly become such Experts for Power? Those ignorant of how the French imperialists crippled Haiti for daring Independence, cannot understand the devastating effects of the French Agreement with West African French Speaking countries. Though the British do not spell out their Agreement with English Speaking African countries with such impunity, the opium effects are no less disadvantageous. Ironically, it was the far Right Italian before she became Prime Minister that challenged France on this. The more they sugarcoat their inhumanity to man, the more they exposed their entrenched racist bias.

Unna still dey dream that thing?

Bazoum will be sent to exile soon. Zimbabwe, Uganda, Iran, Russia, China even this same Nigeria is under some kind of sanction from the West, who has died?

Dey there dey chop Western countries' faeces, we are in a multi-polar world now sanctions do not work anymore. And the day Nigeria tries to invade Niger not only will Nigeria never remain the same but Nigerians will become the enemy of African countries and the most hated group among Black people.
Most African people are with Niger, even worldwide hell even some Nato/EU countries like Italy are secretly with them.

The war mongering and oppressive USA and the West are setting a trap for Africa, go and dive in.

I swear. If Africa leaders chop the bait USA are setting, Third World War will start in Africa.

US never use NATO attack Russia oh! U see sense? Yet they want Mumu ECOWAS TO attack NIGER?

Seems like you're the kind of person who read the first three page of a 300 page book and start to right a review for the whole book.
If not then you would have realise that a military is an organization that have within it people with various capabilities.
The stability of any organization is the quality of it leadership and regiment of it followers.

Great leaders can come from every walk of life.
