House owners must negotiate with the real owners if they wish to keep their building. As for me o. I will draw up a strong document for them to sign & agree to paying land tenancy yearly or every 5 years. We no won’t sell our lands to anybody.

Before you lease, since there are no sale, make sure you perfect your transaction with head of family and government. Otherwise you are squatting.

Most of these buyers look for poor disgruntled members of the family that is looking for stomach infrastructure.

All Nigerians do it to get a piece of the Rock.

Case will proceed to appeal and supreme courts.

There are still more years to go with the case. Some of those who initiated the case may not be alive. Some more may not see the end of the case and the judgement benefit will go to their children and grandchildren.

In the end, existing properties will not be uprooted. The land in dispute may even include Kirikiri maximum prison. Families usually demand a fair amount to re-purchase the disputed lands from those who they term “illegal occupants” and that solves the problem permanently.

It is not confined to Lagos only.

This is the latest scam going on backed by the judiciary in Lagos, family member lost his plot in gbagada to this and a friend lost his office space for car sales in ogba

If the present occupants of the land didn't steal the land, why are they being forced to reacquire the land?

Seriously though, when you hear certain names from Lagos, Bayelsa, Cross River and Port Harcourt, it's just very easy to know they were named as slaves by Colonialists. Ancestors of these people were so mentally oppressed that they failed to pass on history to their successive generations. So the families simply grew with names given to them by Western Colonial entities. I have a friend from Bayelsa whose name is Jimmy Bornford. Like, what the actual fvck is "Bornford" supposed to mean grin?!

Just imagining myself letting my heritage die with me and failing to pass it on to my future generations !

Omoh mehn!
