African Union Backs ECOWAS Resolutions On Niger Republic by nairalandkachy1: 2:48pm On Aug 11, 2023
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, expresses his strong support for the decisions adopted by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on anti-constitutional change in Niger.

The Chairperson expresses his deep concern at the reported poor conditions of detention of President Mohamed Bazoum. Indeed, concordant sources attest to a worrying deterioration of such conditions.

The Chairperson calls on the military authorities to urgently halt the escalation of relations with the regional organization ECOWAS, including the cessation of the continued sequestration of President Bazoum in worryingly poor conditions.

Such treatment of a democratically elected president through a regular electoral process is unacceptable.

The Chairperson further calls for the immediate release of President Bazoum and all members of his family and government who are illegally detained with him. Their detention flies in the face of Nigerien law and the founding principles of the AU and ECOWAS.

The Chairperson calls on the entire international community to unite efforts to save the moral and physical integrity of President Mohamed Bazoum.

In terms of helping other countries grow better with a good living ECOWAS and African union won't get their self involve
But once one country wanted to sanitize their nation and pluck out the bad egg boom ECOWAS with their useless chairman will want to intervene

So AU is backing military operations? Anyways since the Nigerian senate already voted unanimously not to take part in the military campaigns against Niger, other countries of ECOWAS can go ahead and invade without us. Whatever happens internally in another sovereign country is no one's business.

No one invaded Nigeria those years when military coups were more prevalent back then in the 60s/90s, we sorted our issues ourselves and same thing should happen in Niger. France and US should deploy their forces into Niger if e sure for them. Africans shouldn't be foolishly used like a tool by the West to kill each other like they set up Ukraine vs Russia.

If the West wants a change of government in Niger they should deploy their own forces to go and die in Niger instead. E no concern us. Africans shouldn't be fighting and killing each other to appease the Western bloc.

Game over! O pari!

The coupists are under tremendous pressure. They have not gotten the legitimate President they kidnapped to resign amidst rumour of counter coup and punishing potent sanctions by Ecowas.

Niger needs Nigeria. They can NEVER do without Nigeria. That coup Leader knows there is nowhere to go than to do the wish of Nigeria.

The moment you see the same people who supported Mr Peter Obi , Mr Nnamdi Kanu, Mr Trump, GEJ, etc supporting the coupists, I knew the coupists are jinxed with bad luck of not getting their wish. Nobody or nothing they support ever ends well. Check my signature for free stuffs!

I just wish we can all go back to the HUNTING AND GATHERING ERA/PHASE OF LIFE , where there wont be any issue.

Where we can all live in peace and harmony without harming each other.

May the God of the universe heal all our lands.

Thanks

Very good... Let's see if the coupist boys still have the guts to override democratically elected governments and partner with Wagner group.

They're just jumping from 🍳 to πŸ”₯. You don't like France, so you partner with Russian militant groups in order to get freedom. 🀑

.
I guess it's because of the Uranium and gold deposits they have that France and US are stealing.

Of course they would. Nobody supports barbaric coupist. We are in 2023 and not 1980.

Even Russia condemned the coupist.

Nigeria spent over $8b in Liberia with over 2000 lifes lost.
Yet, what what did they gain?
AU is pushing ECOWAS and by extension Nigeria to lead a military campaign in these hard times.
Have they even considered those Nigerians living in IDP camps in Niger?
Have they considered the influx of refugees to the 5 boarder states in the North of Nigeria?
The truth is, Nigeria can’t afford this intervention at this time.
Those countries with existing military bases in Niger should champion the course.
When Nigeria had it share of military rule, who helped them?
Other democratic options such civil protest by Niger citizens has not even been explored yet.
Nigeria has so much in its plate for now.

Good

Some stup1d elements both here on Nairaland and Twitter says that it is OBIdients that are in support of Nigerien junta. I am not in support of it. For the first time in 8 years, a fulani man is not the president. Leaving Nigerien junta will pass wrong signals to would be Nigerian couplets. I stand 100percent with BAT on this

People are making themselves look ridiculous

Go and attack Niger and see how it pans out....

Only a fool will paly into the hands of the West in their seemingly futile attempt to rein the emergence of China and Russia as the new normal...
