No fewer than 21 Military Personnel Including Senior Officers have been reportedly killed by suspected bandits at Kundu through Zungeru in Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State.


It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday when 13 of them were killed in the encounter while eight were also killed on Monday in an ambush in which a two-star captain and a major were reportedly involved.

According to reports, “the security operatives were trying to block the criminals route at Kundu who were about crossing with several rustled cattle when they were ambushed leading to the casualties including 5 vigilantes who were injured with bullets.”

It was reliably gathered that the bandits have rustled plenty of animals from several communities and trying to cross from Akere to the Northern parts of the country.


An eyewitness told Voice of Nigeria that the 21 Military Personnel corpses were deposited at the Zungeru hospital where the injured vigilante group is receiving medical treatment.

An injured vigilante, Sani Adamu in an interview, said that they had a face-to-face exchange of gunshots within less than 100 meters but they were challenged because the criminals weapon were more sophisticated than theirs, hence the casualties.

Back last year when I was still serving in Agaie Niger state, bandits attacked some communities in Lapai LGA which is next to Agaie Though attacks haven't occurred there since this January.
