Appointments: APC Group Tackles Tinubu Over Failure to Insist on El-Rufai, Reward Yerima

The All Progressives Congress Youths for Good Governance (APCYGG) have raised questions on reasons President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to stand by former Kaduna Governor, Mal Nasir El-Rufai after the DSS refused to clear him on grounds of alleged security reports .

The group also queried reasons President Tinubu didn't consider the National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima as a member of his cabinet despite all efforts put to ensure his emergence

According to the APC youths, it has become imperative to reward the AYCF President considering the role he played during the campaigns ,more so, in stabilising youth activities, promoting peace and social justice over the years, not only in the North but in all the geopolitical zones of Nigeria .

We deeply worried that our prominent northerners with records of performance and capacity have not been rewarded for working for the President even when it's obvious his cabinet is set.

As a group we see the action as a wrong political signal, which cause impending crack and eventual disharmony within ranks of formidable party pillars and campaign anchors, who worked against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar , who is their own brother and kinsman .

Recalled that the president had transmitted the first and second batch list of Ministerial nominees to the upper chamber of the National Assembly for screening with the final list containing 45 names that was read on the floor of the Senate by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement signed by Comrade Hassan Aliyu,the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Youth for Good Governance, the group noted with dismay that most of crops of nominated Ministers from the northern are green horns in politics, with no much electoral value.

The statement further reads: "We therefore call on President Tinubu to reconsider rewarding those who worked hard to ensure APC won the controversial general elections in the north and other parts of Nigeria.

"Mr President ,no Nigerian either within or outside the country today can doubt the capacity of Governor El-Rufai and Yerima on issues of administration and governance. More so, that these are people,who came out openly against all odds to fight for you ,even when it appeared that the former President Muhammadu Buhari was against you.

" In the game of politics, it's unwise to use and dump foot soldiers. It's no doubt that a grievous mistake has been made and if not corrected now , might destroy your popularity in the north .

"That over 50 Prominent APC Members who contributed a lot during 2023 Election across the 36 States are yet to be rewarded is worrisome . The big question is ,How would President Tinubu compensate these People?"

While calling President Tinubu to reconsider rewarding the bigwigs who worked and fought his election victory, the APC youth urged them to remain calm and continue to contribute their quota to progress and development of APC and Nigeria.
