How The British Sowed The Seed Of Discord Among The Early Nigerian ? by Nice2023(m): 5:03am On Aug 17, 2023
The British colonial rule in Nigeria, which lasted from the late 19th century until 1960, had a significant impact on the country's social and political landscape. While it would be an oversimplification to attribute all of Nigeria's problems to British influence, there are certain ways in which colonial policies contributed to divisions among Nigerians. Here are a few key factors:

1. Administrative divisions: The British introduced the concept of indirect rule, which relied on traditional rulers to govern on their behalf. This approach often favored certain ethnic and religious groups, leading to power imbalances and marginalization of others. It created disparities in resource allocation and reinforced divisions among ethnic groups.

2. Arbitrary borders: During the Scramble for Africa, European powers drew territorial boundaries without considering pre-existing ethnic, linguistic, and cultural groupings. Nigeria's current borders do not fully align with historical divisions, leading to potential conflicts over resources, identity, and political representation.

3. Divide and rule tactics: The British exploited existing differences among ethnic and religious groups to maintain control. They favored certain groups and granted them preferential treatment, leading to tensions and rivalries among Nigerians.

4. Diverse legal and educational systems: The colonial administration implemented different legal and educational systems, often along religious and ethnic lines. This further deepened divisions, fostering a sense of separate identities and interests.

While the British undoubtedly played a role in sowing seeds of discord, it is important to note that Nigeria's challenges extend beyond colonial legacy, including factors such as governance issues, economic inequalities, and competition for resources. Building a united and cohesive Nigeria requires addressing and reconciling these various factors.

Typical IPOB cannibal mentality.

IPOB always get angry if any good thing goes to other tribes and that was why they murdered northern and South West politicians in the January 1966 coup and left their own tribal CANNIBALS like Azikiwe.

And that January 1966 coup marked the begining of the end for IPOB/SE because they were cursed by Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa the prime minister they humiliated and murdered. Tafawa Balewa cursed them just before he was murdered and that is why IIGB0S will never amount to anything in Nigeria.

Typical revisionism. Nigerians, by saying Nigerians I mean the representatives of the old regional sub groups demanded and were granted independence and ability to freely form political alliance. The ibos, in their quest to dominate, lord, and control everyone thought northern region is the weakest link due to the obvious reasons that they are behind other regions in progressive index decided to form political union with northern region. The ibos refused to aligned with other southern subgroup, in particular the south western region because by their own admission, the southern subgroup are too sophisticated to be controlled, subjugated and relegated into the political back seat to a driverless political vehicle they designed to make them above and superior to everyone.

When they aren't achieving the set objectives of consolidating power, they went on rampage, greed-fuelled adventures of killing every other political leader bar their own under the cover of eliminating corruption. At that instance, they cancelled the healthy regional governance enjoyed by everyone and ushered in unitary system of governance. The chain of events led to the civil war and subsequent successful military take overs and the distrust among Nigerians.

The ibos, borne out of greed and insatiable lust for power destroyed the solid political foundation the British empire handed over to us.
