RESIDENTS of Jankata community, Pipeline area of Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, have lamented robbers’ siege to the area since September.

Nigerian Tribune learnt, on Wednesday, that since September, the community which consists of Kuola, Alogi, Abapaanu, Surulere, and Abobo, among others, have been under siege on a daily basis.

It was learnt that the robbers operated between 12 midnight till 3.30 a.m each night without resistance.

“They came dressed in black, masked and armed with weapons which include pick axes; axes; cutlasses and guns,” one of the residents said.

On arrival, it was gathered that the robbers would call on the residents to open their doors voluntarily, threatening that the occupants would be killed if they disobeyed them.

Some of the community leaders, who spoke with Nigerian Tribune under condition of anonymity for fear of being attacked by the robbers, disclosed that eight houses were raided on September 25 when the robbers invaded the community.

They said the robbers raided five houses in the early hours of October 12.

Three of the houses, the Nigerian Tribune learnt, belonged to senior pastors of a leading pentecostal church in the area.

It was gathered that the wife of one of the pastors was inflicted with matchete cuts during the last incident, because she refused to open the door in time.

She was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where she was receiving treatment.
