REDshouse:In accounting, what you really have is 3.7billion if all other things are deducted...that is the real figure..they have factored in debts and other foreign deductions...Nigeria owes alot...about 15 billion dollars to Goldman Sachs and co...which nigeria cant repay in due time meaning they will deduct the money from the foreign reserve as stated in terms and condition in accessing the loan....the external reserve is really low...if this subsidy can be used in settling 500bn monthly debts then good..if mismanaged again, then there will be wahala in the nearest future.... 3 Likes |

It’s so simplistic and hypocritical to put all the blame on Buhari. We’ve been on this path for a very long time and getting here is inevitable. Sadly, a lot of you don’t even understand why we are here and what should be done going forward. You all just want to troll and pass blame on those you did not support politically. We’ve been wasting all our oil revenue on importation of refined petroleum products, subsidizing the rest of Africa, subsidizing electricity, defending the Naira etc. These are very popular policies that all governments since 1999 have tried to stop but we all keep forcing them to keep it going. Like I said before, we either accept the ongoing reforms introduced by the president or watch the economy crash in the next 4-8 years maximum. With this new report from JP Morgan, we may not have more than 4 years self. All subsidies must go no matter how painful. We should also consider increasing our oil production in the interim to get more forex. If it entails leaning OPEC, we should leave. Double our oil production and sell a little below the market price. Desperate times requires desperate measures. Everything should also be done to ensure Dangote refineries and PH refineries come on board this year. We can’t continue to import refined petroleum products with this level of forex reserve. We just have to look inwards. 6 Likes 2 Shares |
