🤣🤣🤣

You will not make heaven.

I know couples saving £1500 every month.

You guys should stop making baseless arguments.

When you come to UK and want to live in 3 bed apartment, want to drive a car, keep buying what you don't need....

You will end up spending more than you should

An average person making 1500 after tax will pay a rent of £600 (all bills inclusive) meaning gas, electricity, high speed WiFi, water, and so on included in the rent.

Feed very well with 200 and put another 200 aside for misc.

You will be left with 500 pounds savings.

Now if you have a good job in NHS or other good sectors you can make over 2k after tax... Now do the maths.

If you now have a supportive wife and you move outside London, you will be saving even more

They've come again.

Yes people in the UK are stingy. We give money and attention to our immediate family members, not to scroungers, we don't know y'all from anywhere.

Another lame post.

It will shock you to know that there are more Nigerians in America and Canada than they are in the UK.

And no matter how many people migrate, these western countries will always be a million years ahead of Nigeria.

I feel you didn’t interpret the context of his post correctly. Endless migration has messed up the UK… Aside migration from third world countries, even first world European countries migrate in droves to UK because of the strength of UK currency, minimum wage, available jobs and social benefits they will enjoy. Citizens of Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, and other top EU countries migrate to UK in droves. Not mentioning Poland, Romania, Lithuania, etc

Now here is the difference between the American migration you posit and UK migration. UK is a small island country with limited landmass and resources, unlike Canada and US that are among the top 5 countries with large land mass. If you are in UK, you could literally see everywhere choked with infrastructures stretch to the limit.

Yes, UK is still better than naija

Well i guess you are limited in your reasoning.

Many PEople make over 3k or 4k pounds after tax and their living expenses is below 2k. Around with your keyboad.

no ooo people earn £100,000 a week —- and they can save £99,000 of it, and the remaining £1,000 just change it to naira and pay all your bills in the UK - and get rich ..everyone complaining here are not wise. you are the most brilliant and wisest person in the world 🌎 are you happy now?

Now, you don't need plenty generosity. A gift of £10 to someone in need is over 10k in Nigeria and will be much appreciated.
Except if there is a history of extortion
10pound is an hour of hardwork bro…..if month end and your rent remain 10 pounds. Landlord no go hear.

that mane don’t know places with cheap rent is because it is a blue collar town with service jobs that pay like 9 pounds an hour

I also noticed he said he and the wife will be working. So this means they would hire childcare for the children. The childcare payment is the same as the wife’s salary so it makes sense for her to be a stay at home mum

That dirty habit of calling another person stingy on top of his own money is so dumb smiley

seuncyrus:
The real problem is Nigerians and their silly entitlement mentality about someone else's income. How can you even call anyone stingy ffs.
Any amount anyone gives you from their hard earned sweat is a gift, you're in no way entitled to how the person spends their money .

Do you know how many hours he puts in daily to make ends meet ?
Do you know how much he pays for the tiny studio apartment he lives in ?
Do you know how much bills he has to pay after tax ?
Do you know how many people like you that sends him messages daily , and many he's even promised ?

There are too many silly Nigerians adults who are so entitled & self-centered and no different from their leaders.

I don't blame them for being stingy. The people I know that are based in UK, Even if I'm close to them, I will only communicate with them for gist. As for asking them for money, is a huge NO for me because I am considerate to know that things aren't easy in UK. If they want to gift me anything, they do it willingly without me expecting it.

You know when people can't cheat you anyhow, they call you names.
Britain through prudence, resilience, innovation and living within their means ruled the world. Until US became a World Power after investing heavily to help Britain and Russia defeat Hitler in 1945.

Britain had to let colonies go, albeit reluctantly and focus on recovering from the war.

In 9ja, we want to live large, spray money at parties, have girlfriends all over the place, etc. We want to be brash like Americans without the enabling environment of America and means of Americans. If possible on the sweat of friends/relatives abroad.

UK functions on the foundation of everyone sharing the load, being modest and ready to manage. Even housing in a small Island is modest with 67 million people.

Anyone who has lived in other Western countries before living in UK knows the difference. How 9ja folks used your money to play betja while in other Western countries. They never appreciate what you did for them last week. Only entitlement. They don't care about you or how your family abroad progresses. Only about siphoning your money.

Anyone abroad killing himself with excessive work to please entitled people na mumu. When you kpeme, same people will say they didn't get enough rice at your enemy's burial. grin grin cheesy cheesy

UK is the best place to be to cut the shenanigans of entitled 9ja folks.

Whatever they call UK people, fact is our kids have the chance to attend some of the world's best universities. A bonus for their social mobility. No other country the size of the UK has even half as many top universities. That's worth it.

The average Nigerian is so entitled, it’s so annoying. They don’t care to know what issues you may be facing. If you have a hard time implementing boundaries you will live abroad with absolutely nothing to show. While the same people asking for money are doing way better than you!

I'm definitely in agreement with you. Uk is even far, the rate at which some Nigerians depends their lives on others working here in Nigeria is somewhat annoying. I have many of them disturbers on my ends too and they'd always feel like "isn't he working?". When I also have a lot of bills to settle from the mite I earn.

People live above their income. That is the problem.

Even if you save 500 pounds every month, you are still better of . lets not fool ourselves.

Even to save that 500 pounds per month na war , big war , especially if this so called
Couple decide to have kids

Like someone said if it’s by how much money you have left after your expenses every month . Uk will be one of the poorest country in the world

It’s that bad

To see a normal person with just £50,000 in thier savings … very very rare

Even when they get it, they are encouraged to get a mortgage with it which is a loan from the bank which requires a initial deposit for the loan to be successful , so the £50k again will go the bank and the bank will probably then help you add £300k to it as loan and send it directly to the seller of the house you want to buy

You will now be paying back almost £300k for a 30 years period.

Uk is like a very very long term life investment , you
Will suffer for almost every year.
God knows that

Let me start this piece with a common saying on social media. If you are in the habit of complaining people are stingy, it might be an indication that you are begging too much.
Well, much has been said about people in the United Kingdom being tight-fisted. To a large extent, I am of the opinion that this is true and could be attributed to some of the reasons explained below:

(1) Culture:
The United Kingdom just like most Western countries has embraced individualism. The system of every man for himself. In Africa, it is collectivism which simply means 'Let's do it as a family, let's grow together' You will hardly see the core Britons help each other financially. They will rather rely on credit facilities from banks, credit cards, and benefits to survive tough financial times. This is unlike Nigeria where 'billing' is almost cultural in the 21st century due to age-long systemic poverty.

(2) Littany of lies:
Some Nigerians are in the business of cooking up comprehensive and water-tight lies to extort money from their family members abroad. Personally, I have friends who have abandoned their WhatsApp accounts to avoid hearing countless touching stories from friends and acquaintances in Nigeria. To cope with the virus of lies, people in the UK have adopted a firewall to block all intrusions.

(3) Hustle is hard:
Life in the UK is historically difficult, and in recent times, things have gotten tougher for the 6th largest economy in the world due to the growing population, Brexit, COVID-19, and other issues. People work round the clock, under extreme weather conditions, to earn money and the cost of living is too high. As of 2020/2021, employees were chasing people for jobs. Two years later, the reserve is the case, even in the blue-collar jobs industry. So every penny counts. You don't want to make money only to play a Father Christmas to someone whose financial challenges might not be genuine.

(4) Taxes:
This topic doesn't require much explanation as this is a paramount issue in the UK. Any sort of comfort you enjoy in the country is taxed. It runs a service-based economy. I have seen people earn about £3,000 gross salary in a month and get a net pay of £2,300. Income tax, National Insurance, and pension deductions took about £750 which is more than the salary of a successful person in Nigeria. Rent, council tax, loan repayment, vehicle insurance, and others would further beat your take-home pay until it struggles to take you home in the end.

(5) Personality traits
Some people are naturally stingy. In fact, they even struggle to spend their own money on themselves. It appears they might be of the belief that the funds could be taken with them to the great beyond. I have a friend who has no record of helping anybody in the history of his life and he has no plan to turn a new leaf. People like these come to the UK and become hardened in the area of stinginess.

(6) People are broke:
If poverty in the world is being measured by raw cash and not access to food, the UK might be one of the poorest countries in Europe. Most people have to overwork, to the detriment of their health to make extra bucks. This is why some locals see the paper chase as a rat race and they prefer to stay unemployed and focus on benefits from the government. Furthermore, the housing crisis in the UK is real. As a family man, 70% of your monthly earnings easily go into accommodation costs. This makes life mentally stressful and frustrating.
Anyone looking from the outside is easily deceived by the glossy pictures, nice clothes, and lovely locations they see on social media. This set of people constitutes the 'God When Squad' - a popular faction in the Nigerian social media space.

Why do we like to feel entitled? Whoever has and chooses not to give has the right to his/her resources.

At a point or the other, we all needed help. Stop saying people are entitled as reasons not to give. Like a guy his family packaged 2M to support him to go abroad, now things are hard for them at home, to help he says they are entitled. Shouldn't that money contributed be used to construct a poultry farm?

I live in the UK and cannot see everywhere, UK has green open spaces die! Well planned forests and farms are so common on both sides of the road when travelling between towns and cities. When doing the about 90 mins road trip from Cambridge to London, there are massive stretches of open fields, forests, rivers on both side of the road as you drive along.
