World over human rulership has failed to eliminate poverty. It is beyond them. An ancient city practiced gleaning to eliminate poverty and promote food for all.

Let's say there are 2 one-stop mega plazas opposite each other with petrol stations in front of each.
U need to change ur dollars, buy a bag of rice and refill ur tank.

Plaza A sells at this rate:
Rice:. 8,000
Dollar: N215
Petrol: N97

Plaza B sells thus:
Rice: 40,000
Dollar: N850
Petrol: N617

Which of the plaza will u patronize?
Please be honest.

This is not what I am saying, economy is not only about buying and selling. Human development and modern infrastructures (24/7 electricity, modern security facility, scientific research, green energy, scalable refineries. etc).
China bcm what it is today bcs all these things are in place, Nigeria can't earn & keep growing USD with its current state bcs we lack the basic structure to produce modern utilities that solves modern problem

It's just a game politicans play. PDP played it, Obi played it, APC is playing it now.

The only way out of poverty for Nigeria is to remove subsides on everything, suffer some years of hardship, while the subsidy removal hopefully attracts investors that would have to build things from scratch, force millions of kids into vocational and technical education, and find ways to make using our raw materials to make goods and services for the world...in the next ten to twenty years.

Russia is a rich nation. Russia is an industrial nation. In 1929, it was worse than some African countries. Stalin then came in and introduced a crash programme on industrialization, because either they did that, or the West would crush them badly. By 1961, Russia was sending men to space...a country that some 40 years earlier was so backward.(Russian troops entering Germany in 1945 could just not understand why Germans would leave their nice country to come and invade their broke ass poor country on seeing how nice poor people's houses in Nazi Germany looked like compared to their hovels at home)

South Korea is a rich nation, and went from being broke and worse than Senegal in 1961, to ultramodern nation by 1978, because Park, their army ruler, did it the hard way. A generation worked long hours for poor pay and dirty work to build the base for the industrial paradise that South Korea is today.

Here in Nigeria we don't want to suffer. That's why when some corrupt politcan comes and promises us to lift us out of poverty, we believe, and vote for them, yes including APC. The people who believe in Biafra want biafra so that they can have more money to share among themselves, not because of any ideology. Most Nigerians believe that if we share the money, we would all have enough...at best we would get a few thousand naira for the year.

We keep not wanting to face the truth of development. Since independence, we have laboured under the delusion that we just need to share the money more 'equitably', that we are rich, that we should live like the Saudis. Meanwhile, we don't even produce up to one third of the oil the Saudis produce...yet we want to live like them.

But point the above out, you are a government supporter, you are excusing government.

IUntil this APC government, the other parties, and Nigerians wake up and face truth, we are going to remain poor...and broke. Sharing oil money. Instead of using what we have to make something for the world.

I don't wish that it would have to take a Nigerian version of Stalin to wake us up.

If a typical Nigerian wants to deceive you, he will introduce God, religion or tribe into the narrative. This is what they do with the reverse history they shove down our throats daily. What they refuse to tell their audiences is that the basis of recovery in the societies, such as the ones you mentioned, is the structured provision of goods and services, otherwise called “production”.

Peter Obi was shouting it from rooftops and tree tops just the other day, and he is still struggling to help get the country out of the mess the political class has gotten it into.

Round-tripping, managing scarce resources and then stealing the rest has never made any country or society self-sustaining or prosperous.

It is the production that you need in order to earn the external inflow that strengthens your economy and provides jobs for the population, which in turn pay taxes to the state, while securing the social order through the individual self-satisfaction of the population.

This gang of thieves in Abuja has neither the expertise nor the will or the honesty to work for the Nigerian people. Unfortunately, this is the true state of play in Nigeria today.

Bros, the 2 major areas I fault GEJ is (1) the corruption within his government (which was a child's play compared to PMB's) & the rise of Boko Haram which to a large extent was weaponized by the North & APC to sabotage his government. Remember, Maj Gen Ihejirika was crushing BH before Northern elders started claiming human rights abuses up & down....

If Tinubu in 8 years can get us back to a place where USD can exchange at N350, fuel price @ N200, 50kg of foreign local rice sells @ N15,000 among other things, I will give him a pass mark.

If Tinubu fails to achieve the above, that means we would have wasted 16 years of our national life just to satisfy power drunk desperados like PMB & Emilokan.

In 1984 they did a campaign with a song saying Andrew no check out o, Nigeria go survive.

Even before 1984 Nigerians were talking about japa and how Nigeria is dead and useless.

In the same 1984, A Dollar was about 70 Kobo, meaning the Naira had more value than the Dollar. But Nigerians were saying Nigeria is dead and over and they wanted to japa.

I don't know when we will realize that a great part of our problem is in our negative energy towards this country.

Everyday we talk about the power of words. We talk of positive affirmations and saying good things to attract good energy. But when it comes to Nigeria we expect something different.

You are cursing it, swearing for it, saying it is dead and over and finished and about to explode and sitting on a keg of gun powder and has no future and deserves running away from and you somehow still expect it to progress with all of these negative energy? Interesting.

Of recent I have had course to discuss with Bolt drivers and they are full of complains. The business is not like before, the business is dead, you will just buy fuel and you will work only fuel money. But they blocked one of them on the App and he told me things were not hard for him when his Bolt App was not blocked. Another brother of mine said at least 7k go clear for you daily. And I am wondering what people are complaining about.

I also noticed how Bolt drivers whine about repairing car and not having profit.

But when I did Bolt I made money to feed my family and I was happy while others were sad. And I did NOT frequent the mechanic.

I use to enter any and everywhere the ride took me to and from that bad spot I will get a very good and expensive ride and my ratings did not pass 4.9 out of 5 because the passengers saw my energy. I am sure it would have stayed at 5 but for the ones who put their mothers in the Bolt and at the end just click 4 star because they didn't know how the ride went. If their mother was to choose I would be sure of my 5 stars.

But the average Bolt driver is always whining about cost of parts, bad roads, Bolt percentage, passenger attitude, and in the end they go about with bad energy and don't make much because of poor ratings from riders who they gave this attitude. For me sometimes it is even the passenger that will be saying oga sorry oh, our road is bad. I don't carry my problems on my head.

Someone said fuel that used to be 120 Naira. And I asked him were you happy then? Even when it was less than 100 Naira you were still complaining about fuel price so when will you ever be happy?

Nigerians need to change our look at things. We need to learn gratitude and be able to see what we have while not being blind to what we don't have. When you look at the UK, also look at Congo, Madagascar, Malawi, and Niger.

If not we will keep the circle of complain and even our leaders will dismiss us as insatiable and we will never see good even when it is there.

Praise Nigeria for what it has and suggest ways to fix what we don't have. What is the point of aimlessly nagging about your father's house publicly on repeat? Let us do better and stop the negativity, It is suffocating the Nation!

Same promise every year. 'My administration will uplift Nigerians out of poverty' They keep repeating it. I remember 'Housing for all by 2000'
rhetoric those days in the 90s. Where are those houses they promised us?

It is children that are played around and given false promises of treats.

Real citizens I sane societies work out their salvation from challenging situations. For the role of government cannot exceed that of an organiser of agreements within society.

And a referee's role in the outcome of any game cannot be the same in terms of risk, skill or effort as the players who intend to win trophies.

If Nigerians want to get out of poverty they better start getting creative, informed, resilient and hardworking. If they intend to wait on government then it simply will not happen.
