In the past 15 months Nigeria has exported gold amounting to $78 billion but our crude oil exports in the whole of 2022 was $46 billion. This $78 billion came from exporting a little over 2000 ounces of gold from an estimated 300 million ounce reserve

Please, I am interested in getting the reference for this information you shared here. I want to know more about it.

Africa’s biggest economy has exported gold worth N78.9 billion within the last 15 months, a first-time trend in Nigeria’s export economy.

Findings by BusinessDay showed Nigeria is gradually tapping from a cash-spinning mining sector that has remained largely under-utilised since the crude oil boom, a development that is part of a key step in efforts to pivot the economy away from oil.

Data gleaned from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Nigeria exported nonmonetary gold (including gold plated with platinum) in powder form to Switzerland valued at N14.39 billion in the first quarter of 2023.

Further findings showed Nigeria exported nonmonetary gold worth $61.6bn in 2022, the highest since NBS started collating data.

Experts said the government’s decision to relax regulations and offer tax breaks for the first three years of its operation is attracting miners to the country’s mining sector

Yorubas were not made to believe Igbos are the enemies of Nigeria, they know that Igbos are the enemies of Nigeria from historical facts.

Roll back to pre independent days:
The Igbos, (believing they would be able to subjugate other regions politically) vehemently opposed the inclusion of secessionist clauses into the independence constitution of Nigeria. The West and North wanted it but the British, seeing the pole advantage of keeping Nigeria one (even when it was glaringly unworkable) queued behind the Igbos led by "longthroat" Azikiwe.

Destroying the bridge that linked Igbos with the Yorubas.
Needless to say, the Yorubas should have been a formidable ally of the Igbos in the southern part of the country. However, immediately after independence, the Igbos made themselves the political enemies of the Yorubas. Yorubas, with their brand of politics engaged the North in attempt to have other Yorubas that are outside the South West reintegrate into the western region, that is placed like southern kwara, (now made up of 12 of the 16 LGAs of kwara state), the western part of the present day kogi state - now about 1/3 of the present kogi state. The Igbos, led by Azikiwe joined forces with the North to frustrate the moves. Now imagine if these Yorubas are part of South west and by implication, part of southern Nigeria.

Similarly, Azikiwe joined forces with the north to have what is today Edo state and part of Delta state excised from the western region to spite the Yorubas. These are facts that can be verified.

Six years after independence, the Igbos, using their them superiority advantage in the Nigerian Army, effected a despicable coup de tat where Yoruba and Northern political and military leaders were murdered while leaving their Igbo counterparts unscathed.

Immediately after the coup, the federal constitution which empowered regional governments was abrogated and replaced by a unitary system of government by Aguiyi Nrosi, another attempt st subjugating other regions politically. It should be noted that the Attorney General who drafted the decree was Nwabueze. Ask your grand parents, they will tell you.

At the onset of the second republic when no party got a working majority in the NASS, Azikiwe ignored the overtures of the West and instead, formed an alliance with the North (NPN) to frustrate the south west. This was exactly what the Igbos did in the first republic before they brought down the republic.

Now you are a living witness to what the Igbos, through their head less 'obidients' mob are doing to the presidency of Tinubu. They are trying to delegitimize what they can not attain. Obi himself knows he did not win the election, he has all the results from all the polling units in the country but he is typically trying to destroy what he could not get. Mark these words, Obi, nay, any Igbo man will never he the president of Nigeria without the support of the Yorubas.

With the way things are now, there is no possibility of that happening.

You really quoted alot of scripture mixed with unfounded truth. Meanwhile the truth is this. The whole of the southern region is in a mess. Imagine Kano has more than 30 flyovers while owerri has none ,Abia is even worse. yet Kano gets more Allocation than these oil producing regions. I think the south needs a lot more than just a president. The best hospital is in the north, best military cantonment in the north, best schools fully equipped,in the north, cheaper school fees and house rent. Are we not in the same NIGERIA.

With the way things are now, there is no possibility of that happening.

I don't want to counter what you said happened with Zik and other independence politician. Let me just talk about what happened during my time, the so called Tinubu Presidency. From your write up, you seem to feel that Obidients are Igbos who don't want the South West, via Tinubu to be President. That is a wrong way to look at it, being that Atiku, a Northerner has his own Petition against Tinubu and has just recently initiated a suit in Illinois to confirm Tinubu's certificate.

Now, Obidients cuts across Nigeria, an you can see that Edo (a south south State and kin to Yorubas) have the largest interest in the movement. Obidients won in Lagos during the last Presidential election, and these are not solely Igbo votes. So my brother, Igbos are not fighting Yorubas, rather, Nigerians of good conscience don't want a President who is tainted. If you are from a good home, I believe you will not like corruption, forgery, high-handedness, lies and cheating in your relationships, even if the person involved is a family member. Thats how Obidients feel. Even the Yorubas would not support a man whose history is chequered -

1. No known primary and secondary school education. Infact, he stopped using GCI as his secondary school when Bode George, a fellow yoruba man queried his claim to have attended Government College Ibadan. Is that a man the Yorubas will stand behind as representing them? A man who stole Donald Duke's childhood picture for his celebration of life. Haba. There are limits to things, especially for adults. Don't you think its too much to be meshed in controversy about your parentage and heritage?

2. A man who was involved in drugs. To the extent that he has a case in the US. Do you know what it means to be involved in drugs in the US? To have a criminal record. Is that a man Yorubas want to stand behind? Do you even know the implication of having a compromised President? He can be controlled against your interest. Just see his moves in Niger Republic, even when our Senate ruled against military invasion.

3. A man who till date still draw pension from Lagos State after serving 8 years since 2007. Have you looked at the implications for the ordinary person on the street of Lagos, that all former Governors are drawing Pension worth billions from their commonwealth, for a service rendered just for 8 years. Infact, Tinubu still draws this pension while now serving as the President. Is that what you represent?

4. Lets talk about his performance so far in office; Do you feel that this man is competent? With all the blunders and ill-thought out policies right from his inauguration. Has Nigerian gotten better since 29th May 2023? You know, these are all what the Obidients are against. Its not Igbo vs. Yoruba. Infact, the yoruba guys around me here, about three of them are all Obidients. We just don't want our destiny controlled by those who won't feel anything if they are killing us.

5. Check out the controversies we are currently having, certificate forgery everywhere, Minister who has not finished NYSC thats she is currently doing, Minister who finished only primary school, Ministers who have cases with the EFCC. Senators and Governors who submitted fake certificates. Is that the kind of country you want, where politicians feel they can aspire to public office based on lies and forgery?

So my dear brother, re-orientate yourself about the Obidient movement. We want a Nigeria without all these anomalies. Its not about Peter Obi, its about the values which we see in him.

I hope the new minister of solid minerals will expose all the cabals in the North that have been tapping and enjoying alone the solid mineral deposits in the North. This needs to be corrected. Those minerals belong to the whole country and not just the North. I did my project research work in Zamfara geological terrains. You can literally find gold particles in river sands, so imagine what you will see in sites where they are accumulated in commercial quantity!

Chinese are merely sweet talking your politicians so they can take over from the westerners. It's all a game. Same things are happening in Latin America and South /South East Asia as well.
