Six states in Nigeria and two cities in the Republic of Benin had been proposed to host the competition.

Amadou Ba, the minister of sports for Senegal, has declared that his nation is the winner of the competition to host the 2027 African Cup of Nations.

Several nations have expressed interest in hosting the biennial competition, including Nigeria, the Benin Republic, and Morocco, but according to Amadou, Senegal is currently ahead of all other contenders.

"The case is ongoing. We are ahead. The CAF team came here, and the Senegal file is well accepted. We will very soon see the investments to be made.

"Because it will require investments that we will have to launch, these investments will be programmed, and the President of the Republic has agreed to validate them. We aim to allow the participation of as many regions as possible in the establishment of this AFCON", he said.

Senegal last hosted the tournament in 1992.
