Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion, there have been significant changes in verification, payment methods, a name change, amongst others.

One of the changes on X, previously known as Twitter, was the introduction of a paid subscription service that offers user verification.

It's unfortunate that this new development has led to the rise of fake accounts that are seeking to gain impressions by impersonating popular accounts.
