I haven't seen any evidence that suggests Gadaffi was "warned" not to try and control the AU. The AU is an organization of independent nations, so it's highly unlikely that any leader would have the power or influence to make it their personal fiefdom. The whole concept just seems rather far-fetched, to be honest!
